A way to get those prescription meds is to see a doctor specializing in internal medicine soon after you arrive here. On your visit, tell him/ her that you are taking these meds and that you need a prescription good for at least 6 months. Doctor's fee: around PhP500-700. But do bring around a month-and-a-half's worth of refill with you.

My USA doctor said he would write the prescriptions I would need for the 6 months, just wondering if those prescriptions would be filled by Filipino pharmacies without seeing a doctor in the Philippines.   I will be out in the province and doing national and International traveling, hoping to do as in the USA, get 90 days of meds each time.

You can try. If pharmacies won't fill your prescription, then just see a Filipino doctor.

I would suggest bring a 3 month supply.  They will not fill a USA prescription here in the Philippines.  However for just the metformin and the losartan, you will not need to see a Pilipino physician.  These can be purchased over the counter without a prescription.  Good luck in your travels.

Bring your own supply, but check it against airport rules and regulations first as they may think you are bringing it into the country to resell it. In my experience the dosage of pils here in the Philippines is different.

Plateful, I did not find any contraindications from airlines regarding personal prescriptions wih the name, dates, drug dosage and instructions on a properly filled prescription.  As a medical professional I have never found any black market for diabetic and blood pressure medications on a few months prescription.  Yes I agree one needs to follow the appropriate country rules regarding prescription medications but I have not found any that disallow one to bring in personal medications.  I have been to multiple countries and have never encountered an problems with medication.  I also have led 3 different church medical missions and we always brought our own medications to dispense.  They were all cleared by the appropriate authorities.  The one caution would be if you are bringing in controlled substances.  Then I would recommend taking only a few months with you.  Hopefully this will help you and all others on this forum.  Again good luck.
