Ricola's PR Application 2024 (Whether should apply now or wait)

cute_ricola

Hi everyone, my online name is Ricola. So you guys can call me Ric! Been on this forum for quite some time and reading some topics and questions by fellow forum users too. I do however need some enlightenment cause I am kinda in a dilemma whether I should apply this year or wait until next year 2025.

My information will be as follow:

Name: Ricola

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Nationality: Indonesian

Race: Malay (Mother tongue has been always Malay)

Occupation: Quality Engineer (On EP in one of the MNCs in SG)

Salary: Not so high (bring home about 4.3k a month) cause I just graduated from NTU in 2023 with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Education Background:

Primary School: East View Primary School, did and passed my PSLE.

Secondary School: Siglap Secondary School, did and passed my GCE O Level.

Tertiary: Temasek Polytechnic, did and obtained my Diploma.

University: Nanyang Technological University, did and obtained my Bachelors Degree.

Family Background:

My step dad: Singaporean

My step siblings: Singaporeans

My biological mother: Indonesian

Current situation: I am resigning from my company and my last day is 30th August 2024 and I will be joining the new company on 02 September 2024. As I am on EP, I have paid the necessary amount of tax when I am working in the current company after resigning.

With that, I have a few questions which I hope you guys might be able to guide and answer me :)

  1. When should I apply my PR? Now while I am at my current company or wait for my new job at the new company to begin?
  2. What are the chances of getting my PR Approved? The last time I applied PR was when i in Polytechnic taking my diploma and it was rejected (7 years ago).
  3. Are there any other things which I could do increase my chances of getting PR?
  4. Does my family background have an effect on my PR Application?

Thanks everyone! Have a blessed week ahead!

What can we say, without knowing your full vita in detail?

The exact PR approval criteria are (perhaps intentionally) kept unknown to the public - and do seem to change over time. So there is little advice we can give.

Normally I suggest waiting until you have worked for a full three years - but since you already spent most of your education here, this may not apply in your case.

It is up to you to decide when to apply for PR - and the only risk is getting a rejection (i.e. same result as if you don't apply).
