Im sure you cannot get a six month visa, will be 90 days max with the possibility of extension,  depending on what you intend to do in Thailand.

I have visited Thailand many times over the last 15 years, many times for extended visa runs from Malaysia which may still  be possible if you are in Thailand for up to 90 days, take a trip for a few weeks or a month to another Asian country, and then return to Thailand for another period on a new visa.

I am sure other posters can give you a more up to date answer as my wife and I are currently living in Mexico

I'd advise you to check with your nearest Thai Embassy because each embassy may give you a different answer, but for what it's worth the London embassy indicated in an announcement dated 1/9/22 (see [link under review] visa category #3) that you could get a 6 month multiple entry visa for £150.00. Each entry covers you for a maximum stay of 60 days, so when you're about to reach the end of one 60 day period, do a border run to start the next 60 day period. I did this many years ago, making a day trip to Myanmar to get my exit stamp from Thailand, but given the current security situation in Myanmar it would almost certainly be better to use an alternative crossing point.
