"non-resident" implies being here on a tourist visa or a spousal 5-year Visa Exemption Certificate (VEC) but not on a Temporary Resident Card (TRC).

Is that the situation?

There is a forum member who has lived here for over 5 years and claims knowledge of travel insurance in Vietnam.

One would hope he has the answer for a non-resident.

Maybe send him a PM?

(Adding my personal experience to this thread)

I am the legally married spouse of a Vietnamese citizen woman, living with her here in Vi峄噒 Nam on a 3-year Temporary Resident Card (TRC).聽

According to my wife, all citizens of Vi峄噒 Nam (who don't otherwise have health insurance) must pay for their healthcare.

It's possible she's not aware of all options, but this is based on her needing to provide coverage for her parents and 2 twin teenage girls.

As a non-citizen, I am not eligible to buy into the national health insurance system, so if I want healthcare insurance, I have to purchase it from a private company here OR have some form of international insurance that is honored here.

I'm assuming you and your wife are still together?

Or was it a TRC for some other reason?

If the sponsor (either your spouse or a former employer) is willing to sponsor you on a NEW TRC, it shouldn't be a problem.

There's no way to renew a TRC without involving the sponsor.
