You can come to Sushi Dining AOI restaurant at the corner of Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street, a small medium place, very good sushi I have had. I went there for lunch sometimes. For your reference: sushidiningaoi.com/en/

Depends your definition of sushi. Most Vietnamese think of cooked maki when they say "sushi" Kisoya has good maki. Takoika has great salmon sashimi.

I think she's asking whether you're looking for cooked rolls or raw fish. When my local Vietnamese friends think of 'sushi,'聽 they're thinking about cooked stuff. I ordered a raw fish roll once and they said it wasn't 'real' or 'regular' sushi and were taken aback that I would consume raw fish and consider it sushi. Most Americans (at least on the west coast?) like you and I accept that sushi will usually consist of raw fish. So in Vietnam, the kind of sushi you're talking about can be two pretty different things depending on who you're talking to....

I will second that Takoika is a good family owned Japanese restaurant worth checking out. The owner is a personal friend of mine (I beat him up in Vovinam class once in awhile) so I'd be glad to accompany you if you want to check it out once I land in HCMC!

You explained it better than I! My Vnese friends will only eat sushi "so long as it's not the raw kind."聽 ]

I do miss sushi back in LA but I'm surprised the quality here is just fine.

Thank you ladies, great advise.....I'll gave to check out the vnese sushi,but I life the raw fish.

There are many Japanese restaurants on Le Thanh Ton street, district 1 - I tried Zen restaurant and feel they are good. K cafe on Hai Ba Trung street (front of Park Hayatt). Sakura restaurant on Nguyen Du is okay too. Hikari restaurant and Nhat Nam (not sure I remember the name of the restaurant correctly) on Ngo Duc Ke street owned by a Japanese guy is fine also. I dont like Sushibar or Tokyo Deli as they are franchising restaurant. New World hotel and Renaissance hotel have really good sushi buffet too. I heard Movempick have a good one also but havent tried yet.
