Can somebody please advise if you currently need to quarantine upon arrival in the DR if you are not staying at an all inclusive resort and if so for how long ?

Regards

No quarantine, no test required for entry, whether at a resort or not.聽 The country is wide open for tourists.

But your movement is restricted

Restaurants/Stores close at 9pm weekdays - 7pm weekends
Closed until 5am
The roadways are open for 3 hrs more after that.... to 12pm And 10pm
You must be home by then

But no self isolating....
So your movements are somewhat restricted but it's quite reasonable.聽

Bars are not supposed to be packed and neither are restaurants.

Beaches are open. Parks are open.聽 Lots to enjoy here.

No dancing yet in bars, colmados or discos.聽 聽I need to go to my room and cry now.....

of course, the real answer is...it depends.

As much as some don't want to hear or say it.聽 There is lots of life beyond the curfew hours.聽 The busy areas like Santo Domingo for example are much stricter with the curfew.聽 Mostly because there are more enclosed spaces and closer proximity to one another (Like many countries).聽 However, many areas of the DR are totally open to fresh air and social distancing is easily achieved.聽 For some its a no brainer that the hours of the day are not going to change when or if you will get covid or not.聽 It's behaviour and surroundings.聽 If you are responsible and you choose your surroundings carefully, covid is not a concern.聽 聽Its difficult for some to wrap their head around it.聽 聽Funny, no one seems to worry about going into an enclosed restaurant and then take off their masks to eat but can't support going to an outdoor bar for a couple of drinks with your friends at night.聽 Dancing is also fine, just social distance if you are dancing with a stranger...:) and watch out for the one beside you.聽 聽I have yet to see someone coughing or sneezing...but if you encounter such a person, move away.

Life is for living, not for hiding.聽 COVID will be around for a very long time, live your life, carefully as you have done up until now and you will be better than ever.

Cheers and enjoy the beautiful Dominican Republic...

Sorry聽 聽dancing is NOT a safe thing to do. Imagine聽 the huffing and puffing and heavy breathing going on聽 during a聽 5 minute salsa or merengue.... hell no.

I will continue to encourage everyone to follow the聽 laws and rules.聽 聽Outside of that stay as safe as possible.聽 Life does go on, just聽 be smart about it.聽 Follow the science.
