Gifts declared at customs?

Do I claim gifts of clothing to customs? I am bringing 200 dollars worth of clothing for my girlfriend.

You really dont need to.聽 Under US聽 200 is never an issue. Most just come through the airport without issue.

Planner, Is that $200 dollars total? One like item? I'm asking because, I plan on checking a bag stuffed with various items for our new condo in PC. I'm actually checking another box carrying two nice beach chairs, that together are just under $200. I guess I'm asking is it based on all items in my baggage?

You're allowed to bring in $500 in gifts. But with it being clothes, what's to say they aren't your clothes for the trip?聽

I couldn't get Google Translate to translate the entire document, but check the section under "Regalos" (gifts)

There you go,. More upto date jnfo!
You are supposed to declare them on your E-ticket though correct?
Read the declarations questions carefully! I've not completed an e-ticket since December, so I don't recall the exact questions, but often they ask if you have anything beyond the $xx dollars in gifts/xx liters of alcohol/$10k in cash/etc. In those cases, you only have to declare items in excess of the allowance.

What separates from bringing something ie (new iphone, jewelry, clothes etc) that is yours from declaring the item as gift. Taking out of the new box?
Yes of course who would have their IPhone for themselves in their suitcase in a box?聽

If it looks like a gift or for resale and above your allowed value then it could be flagged!
I guess my main question is about the filling out of the form. If the gifts are less than 500 dollars do I even include them on the form. Would you only claim the value above 500 dollars?
The question on the claim form should be clear on what they want to be declared.
Not necessary
