Single permit processing 2025
generally speaking, I think the IBZ process the residence permit based on the current A card expiration dates. The close your card expires, the earlier they get on your case to process it.
@TJ_Bel
Hi I have a question. Who applied for annex 47 as mine also is going to pass 120 days and my employer said they will request for annex 47. In how many days can we expect our annex 47 to arrive
@Mehrdad_AS
That鈥檚 not true. My card expired 10/10 and that didn鈥檛 help speed up the process whatsoever
Hi guys, I just completed 17 weeks from the work permit and the immigration office sent an update to my employer saying that the processing time for my single permit application has been exceptionally extended due to the complex nature of the case. Anyone received this before?
Happy to announce I just got my annex 46 this morning.
first time application ( Flanders)
date of application: 2 June
WP: 26 June
Annex 46: 14 October
Good luck to everyone 馃槶
@Eline Paul
Congrats ! Did you receive the annex 46 via mail or via the single permit website ?
Plus your application went straight from approved work to approved residency ? Or there were processing by IBZ in the meantime ?
@@Tomkar
They sent the annex 46 to my employer by email and also to my commune. The HR forwarded the mail to me. But I could also see it in the single permit website as I could log in to monitor the status. It changed from 鈥渋n treatment by the office鈥 to 鈥減ositive decision residence-annex 46鈥, and the annex was attached.
@Eline Paul
Congrats! I want to ask, because I am still in the middle of my address change procedure. I already went to my commune two weeks ago to notify this change and the police also came and checked. The only thing I need to do now is to update the ID card. Could this potentially be slowing down the single permit process or is it a seperate thing?
Thank you!
I don鈥檛 think it鈥檚 slowing the procedure. Actually I was in the same situation, I just changed my address and few weeks ago was the police visit. I didn鈥檛 go to the commune after that to get a new card, I waited for the annex 46. The annex 46 came with my new address in it so its automatic I assume. Once the police verified you live in the new place the records in ibz update also I guess. In short, changing my address in the middle of this procedure didn鈥檛 affect it negatively or slowed it down
@Eline Paul
So after the police checked with you, you did not go to the commune to update your ID card? Because the police told me聽 聽I can go to the commune to update my ID card 10 days after the check. But if I am waiting for the Annex 46, I might as well wait for that rather than go to the commune twice. Although maybe different regions, slightly different rules? I could be wrong.
Single Permit (unlimited work permit) :
Region: Brussels
Application: 19/07/2025
WP Approval: 23/07/2025
SP Approval: 14/10/2025
@mfpratama
I will go tomorrow to the commune to request my new ID. I will let you know if they tell me any remarks regarding how I did it.
@Elena Igor
Hi Elena,
Congratulations again!
I鈥檓 also currently waiting for my residence permit approval, following the recent approval of my unlimited work permit 鈥 I received the regional decision just last week (October 7). I already have a new job offer, so I鈥檓 hoping the federal step won鈥檛 take too long.
Did you send any reminders to the Immigration Office, or did you just wait? I called them last week, and they mentioned it could take up to 16鈥17 weeks due to backlog and staffing issues. Unfortunately, the person I spoke to didn鈥檛 seem very engaged 鈥 just repeating the standard timeline.
This is actually my third single permit: the initial one, a renewal, and now the unlimited version . Since I鈥檓 still in Belgium and my current residence card is valid until 2028, I was hoping for a quicker turnaround.
Thanks in advance for any tips or insights!
application (Flanders) : 03.07.2025 (no reply e-mail)
work permit: 17.07.2025
residence permit: 07.10.2025 (annex 46)
good luck everyone...
@serdarbudak
Congrats! Do you live in Belgium already? Just wondering cuz I got my work permit on 17th of June, but still didnt get my residence permit.
@ozlemozdemir227 Hi Ozlem,
Actually I was in the same situation (3rd work permit, the latest one being valid until 2028).
I didn鈥檛 follow up with them, I was planning to as it had been almost 3 months and to my suprise got the approval yesterday, so hopefully yours should come any day now too.
I must note that the approval for work is unlimited, but the residency will require a yearly application for commune and get sent to IBZ each time
@TJ_Bel
If you already reside in Belgium, and during the course of your single permit application you recieve a postive work decision you can apply for an annex 49 at your local municipality. This allows you to start working immediately at your new employer. This is valid for 45 days and can be extended twice.

Update:

WP: 08/07/2025
RP: 17/10/2025
Took a total of 14.5 weeks since the WP decision. I really hope we can see an improvement in the way the immigration office handles this application process, along with others, regardless of how normalised it is to have delays. Ive seen countless stories of people whos single permit applications takes 6 months and some even a year. This is something I would like to contribute and work with in the future if such an opportunity arises. Nevertheless, good luck everyone 馃檹馃徑

Beginning of October I sent an email to ibz, they said they are exceptionally prolonging the treatment time. they said they are waiting for an information of an external government agency - just to check before approving
Hey @@Tomkar
Did they give you an expected waiting time ?

@Jey70 no they didn鈥檛 give me. But yesterday i sent them again an email to ask the waiting time. It鈥檚 so crazy how fast it鈥檚 very slow here in Belgium for governmental processings
@@Tomkar
Okay, Let鈥檚 pray it get faster haha
Hi everyone, in your experience is IBZ responsive via email? I sent emails to these addresses and haven't gotten responses : singlepermit@ibz.fgov.be and infodesk@ibz.be
@Mananar
Unfortunately, they never replied to my previous inquiries, and when I called the desk , they only repeated the legal timeline 鈥 17 weeks after the work permit approval.

Single Permit聽 Application for the first time
Region: Brussels
Submission date: 9th July 2025
Work Permit: 25th August 2025
Residence Permit: 28th October 2025
Hey!
I'm a little bit scared about the time it currently takes for the whole process. So, it would be good to have my company apply for the renewal early to avoid any issue.
I contacted the responsible department in the Brussels region and they told me that my company can only apply for the renewal starting from 3 months to the expiration of the current permit. Their words: "if they apply before, we will either put your dossier on hold or consider it irrecevable".
Quite weird - they are basically enforcing that there will be a delay.
Has anyone had a similar experience with a renewal in the Brussels region?
@joaoaccorsi
3 months is usually enough to get the 1st approval ( work approval) once you get that you can resume work normal and ur card expires and you still don鈥檛 have the annex 46, you get an annex 49 immediately and you continue working and residing as usual until your annex 46 is ready then u apply for a new ID
