Working as a teacher in Belgium

gvanroie

I have a teaching degree and work experience (French as a foreign language) from the US.
I'd like to work as a teacher in Belgium. What is the process?
Thanks

Get your qualifications recognised

Then if you are an EU passport holder, no work permit, if non EU, then work permit.

Hi schoolmum,

Thanks for your reply.

I contacted "la Communauté Française" to get my degree recognised.
They told me there is no equivalency to my degree in the Belgian educational system.

Thats weird usually u have to fill out a huge long form and resent copies of your degree and course breakdown before they give u a answer to if its equivalent or not. Try contacting a city hall in Brussels etc that's how i got mine changed.

Teach in a private school, outside French or Flemish or German community control. For example, BICS and Acacia in Brussels have teachers there without any teaching qualifications.
