You technically should register yourself with the maison communale where you are living within 8 days of arrival. The reality is if you are an EU national, it is highly unlikely anyone can prove when you are arrived in Belgium. If you stay in temporary accommodation on arrival then find soon after permanent accommodation, then I would hold out registering until I have the permanent accommodation. You take proof of accommodation (rental contract) and passport / national ID fine for EU nationals too, proof of funds / work contract, you wait for the Police to visit, you are invited back to the maison communale to receive your registration papers or E-card if you want one.

I would go an register also for work with Actiris? I think it is called, even if you are not entitled to any money, you will be entitled to free language courses for example or reductions.

All you need is your passport / national ID card to open an account, if no permanenant accommodation, where you are currently staying or your address in Greece, once you get registration papers, you return with them to the bank and they will give you a bank card and full banking facilities. Yes rent would normally be through a bank account but can be in cash if your landlord agrees .

Temporary accommodation is anywhere you stay for a very short period - so it could be a hotel, private room in someone's house, permanent accommodation is anywhere you live for a longer period. Most people arrive and stay in temporary accommodation, but if you have permanent accommodation already, register straightaway.

Actiris is the government department in Brussels where you register if seeking work, it is not obligatory but helpful.

I have no idea what papers to translate sorry.

But do remember that technically you are supposed to register within 8 days of arrival, the only reason I say you may want to wait a little longer is that you may end up moving accommodation quickly, meaning you will have to register again, but if you are likely to be in temporary accommodation for a while, then yes you will just have to go ahead and register.

I knowe that l had to register in 8 days since l came but since they are asking for a job contract that at that time sure l will not have just because l will come there to try to find something and becuse of this money garantee that l cant find out how much it is (maybe l will not have enough),I was wondering is it possible first to wait to find some job (this might happen after 2 months or eaven more) will l have some problem with authorities?I was thinking first to find appartman on 3 months and id for expamle after 2 l fins job to wait to expire this one mont more and then to find new appartman/room with the new date so to avaoind problems with the authorities.
