Swimming Pool

Zooldrool

Anyone got experience of putting a pool into a house in the center of a city.

Looking on Google maps it doesn't look like there are any of the other houses in the center that have a pool. So we could be the first.

Anyone know if there are any special rules or restrictions for city centers?. I've read it needs to be 3m from the boundary but apart from that...

In thr City, you can not just build a pool

You will need planning. So before you spend any money, check with the planning department at the municipality building

As there are none, the chance is that the municipality does not allow them

Back garden city centre swimming pool Bulgaria regulations

In Bulgaria, regulations for swimming pools in city center back gardens are governed by a combination of national and local laws. Here are some key points to consider:

Building Permit: A building permit is not required for garden and park elements with a height of 2.5 meters above the adjacent terrain.

1

Safety Standards: The Bulgarian Institute for Standardisation provides a complete set of basic standards for the construction and management of swimming pools, including safety requirements and environmental performance efficiency.

1

Hygiene Regulations: The Regulation on proper and safe technical operation and maintenance of elements for incorporation, filtration, and pumps for swimming pools is mandatory and enforced by the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Surveillance.

1

Energy Efficiency: The Energy Efficiency Act mandates measures to increase energy efficiency and energy labelling in the European Union, which are applied in Bulgaria.

1

Construction Specifications: The State standards in Bulgaria outline warranty periods for construction works, including swimming pools, and require permission for construction from the Municipality.

These regulations ensure that swimming pools in city center back gardens are constructed safely, hygienically, and efficiently, contributing to the overall quality of life in urban areas.

Thanks for the advice. I did think we might be subject to other permits/planning.

Out plan is a small above ground pool as we have raised decking coming off from the back of the house. I will explore further on if I can do something smaller to avoid permits.

I don't think you need planning permission for them. You don't in Austria, as they are not permanent structures. You'd have to check what the rules are in Bulgaria.

Yes exactly. We have a raised decking, so can integrate it and make it look like it fits.

I don't know for sure, but my feeling is that for temporary pools like that, which don't need any excavation and aren't very high-sided, you may not need a permit.

They aren't permanent structures, you could call them Adult paddling pools if you like :D
