Bulgarian Dance Events in the NE?

Can anyone tell me how I can find out about events? There is nothing in my village that happens and Silistra is probably closest.

Restaurants that have Bulgarian dancing or village events?

When I get a bit better organised here I would like to join a dance class to learn too. So far, watching a Horo is as far as I鈥檝e got 馃榾

@Zooldrool

Thanks. I was also hoping to find local events that I see on YouTube.

In Plovdiv every Sunday in the park they dance as an example but I have no idea how to find them even with Google and far too far away.

My village has nothing as I reckon at least 90% if not more are pensioners.

I think I will try and see if I get a response on the National Folklore channel.

Thanks again, I will check those out.

I'm surprised there isn't something local. Our village is also 90% pensioners, it doesn't have a dance group but there is a singing group, and whenever there's a local event, out comes the accordion and circle dancing is inevitable. Our nearest small town has active dance groups and classes.

Maybe a local Facebook group might be able to help you find something?

Do you have a village notice board?

@janemulberry

I searched for a local FB group but I couldn鈥檛 find anything at all for the north east. Might have to search in Bulgarian and see if I get better luck. Our village certainly doesn鈥檛 seem at all like the others I read about. The most life is centred round the cafe where they sit all day. There was a restaurant but that鈥檚 been closed for a few years I think. Never seen anything go on in the square. Community centre is not used at all, just a small office.

I'm so sorry! Our cafe is busy, but the cultural centre/ community centre is very active and probably busier. Yet its only a small village now, population no more than 200.

I think for the local FB groups, yes, to find out what's really going on, search in Bulgarian. Otherwise all you get is expat or property sales groups.

I'm so blessed with my wonderful neighbour, who has got me involved with so many things.

No, the posters put up at cafe mostly refer to advertising for beer offers 馃槂

LOL, that sounds about right for the cafe! Our village information board is in the kmetstvo, near the post office room.
