Travel - the irreplaceable institution of life-long learnings

A cancer survivor, I believe the biggest drama in life is not death but not living.
While living in Japan for 6 years I learnt a great deal. I embrace Japanese concepts like Wabi-Sabi, Ichigo Ichie and聽 Shirin-Yoku in my day-to-day life which has not only simplified my life but also helped me cut down noise.聽 Currently residing in London, my cultural and travel experiences during these past few years have been my greatest life long learnings. I have learnt to seize the moments by recognising the beauty in the simple and impermanent nature of everything around me.

Hi, we share one similar experience. Although I do not know much about Japanese Culture, I have always appreciated their high standards on two basic principles of Life - Bushido, honour and loyalty, sadly at very short supply.

I聽 also embrace a belief with every fibre of my body, called Daoism.聽 This has changed my life in the most profound Way.

Good for you that you were able to find these easter philosophies, so relevant, so inspiring with so much wisdom ... including from your home country, a聽 paramount centre of essential values and spiritual guidance in the world.

Bless you ,聽 and Heaven that will always guide us into the future.
Not sure if we can really learn anything, but embrace it all with our hearts and souls.

There is so much to learn but the challenge is to consistently practice. I think experiencing cultures is the only way to learn and practice philosophies. You should travel to Japan someday and encounter these experiences first hand.
Hi, I have been to Japan , and I am an admirer of their culture, Nevertheless I have been a path that in a way is the basis of the Japanese聽 and Chinese culture, Daoism.聽 Japan was formed from a Chinese tribe that sail to the island, so indeed they are connected. Including the characters central to Eastern culture.聽 聽The idea of learning is far more a Western concept聽 based on the Socratian philosophy, than Eastern philosophies. Each individual experience each issue, idea in a different way.
