Hello everyone,

My name is Alexandros, and I鈥檓 a Greek currently living in Switzerland.

One of the main reasons I鈥檓 joining this community is because I鈥檓 currently looking to sell my plot in Crete***

This project has been very important to me, and a lot of work has already gone into it, so I would be very happy to connect with people who may be interested themselves, or who know someone looking for a unique opportunity in Crete.

I鈥檇 also be glad to exchange experiences with others living abroad and managing projects or property in Greece.

Looking forward to connecting with you all.

Hello. My wife and I are approx. 4 years away from retirement and our desire to relocate overseas, we are exploring option in Greece but also areas in south of France like Montpellier.聽 I would probably rent a 2 BR/2BA unit of some type. I created the account to start exploring things we need to think about. For instance can I take my cats abroad?

Hello skerstein,

Welcome to 大咖福利影院 馃榾

Since you are considering both Greece and the south of France, feel free to ask specific questions on the forums related to those destinations. Members who have already moved there with pets will hopefully be able to share their experiences and advice.

In the meantime, I suggest you read the following guide to get an idea of what you will need to make your move to Greece happen: Living in Greece: the ultimate expat guide.

Wishing you all the best,

Cheryl

Hello everyone,

My name is Karin, Dutch native, and I am travelling around the EU since 2008. I have been living in 9 countries. Greece is the country I feel the most at home and I intend to stay here.

My profession is (online) Dutch Language Teacher, although I have been working in the cooperate world for many years.

I am trying to learn the Greek language which is difficult. Mainly due to time restrictions.

Dear Karin,

Greek is no more difficult than English, German or any other European language. All kanguages have their idiomatic expressions which are frequently misused or not understood at all, based on regional vocabulary and structure. I remember one case where a Cretan inhabitant of Herakleion was acting as interpreter for me, when a man from "Anogheia" was speaking! Cypriot colloquial is even worse in the sense of national communication. Start with patience, by learning the language of the particular area of your residence, without embarrassment about your mistakes. Try to use the words you learn as much as possible, even before you become fully conscious of their meaning (many words have multiple meanings in Greek. If you have any questions, let me know.

Regards,

Vasilis Caravitis
