I a sure they have instructions in English, since my husband was speaking in Hungarian she just handed him a sheet in HU. Big help!Big help since their online site is terrible to figure out, seems easy and straight forward at first but it again did not send out the promised code to know anything.I am sure they want people frustrated so they hire help;Just a heads up, be ready for a headache! - @Marilyn Tassy
This is good info.聽 I am not even sure I need to go there in person.聽 Maybe it's all at the kormanyablak for renewal.聽 I'm in a different situation to some.聽 I have the Brexit Article 50 card which means they must renew it under the same conditions as were agreed on the UK withdrawal from the EU.聽 RPs were issued on demand.聽
Well, I'm assuming that they must renew it at least for 5 years but I'm thinking really it should be 10 years.聽 By then, the UK will be back in the EU.聽 If no-one knows how I think, what a moronic misadventure to leave the EU.聽 The queues at passports are endless. Minimum queueing period is now 1h extra as recommended by Wizzair in Europe.聽 聽What a muddle.聽
I am still learning Hungarian as best I can. I think it's going to take a minimum of 1 year to be up to any level for getting citizenship.聽 I was working on 6 months to get at least 200 words in the right order.聽 It's more difficult than I thought.聽 I think I need 12 months to get to say, sufficient for an immigration cum citizenship interview.
Once I have the passport, adios to immigration and hello live anywhere in the EU.聽 Yay! Work this hard to get back what we already had.聽 I will never forgive those UK politicians who pushed Brexit.聽
Anyways, EU has more queues than at US immigration (was when I went anyway, last time about 2023). I avoid the US now - too much Trumpian BS.聽 聽
I learnt my Canadian living daughter is now heading back to Australia.聽 She lived there 2 years previously.聽 They have visas for there but as she's almost 36, it'll run out so she has to get there before she's too old.聽 Probably easier for me to visit Melbourne or better, Brisbane, when I go out to the AP (Asia-Pacific) region.聽 聽Get to Singapore, then stay over and then direct to one of those towns and onward transit to the islands.聽 聽Only issue is the plane going via the Middle East.

Take your pick - it'll get you one way or another.聽 聽Inhaling noxious substances is bound to do you in.
Reminds me of that old chestnut.....
People ask me about astronomy. I usually say "Uranus".聽 聽And they usually reply, "No, it's just the way I'm sitting".聽
BTW, a pack of 20 costs about 拢14 in the UK and here, it's 拢5.聽 聽One can see, with that differential, smuggling to the UK can only become rife.

聽 I remember when I smoked as a ,cool teen, a pack was 35 cents. Went up to 45 cents and we all that that was a scam!
We have a stale 15 year old pack of Marlboro cigs in our desk; My husband carried them in Vegas in his cab if any customer asked for a smoke, makes for getting a better tip .
Last time I smoked was in Vegas last March, well more like a vape and it was not tobbaco.聽 Had a slight kick.

45cts!聽 Those were the days. Or were they?聽 2nd hand smoke in a cab.聽 I suppose in LV, one could keep the windows open.聽 If it brought a decent tip, then sure, if the smoke could be mitigated.
I am not sure vaping is actually smoking even though there's a nicotine hit.聽 Mrs F has started smoking again.聽 Too much stress she says.聽 I do understand it.聽 I was a smoker once but it must be almost 30 years since I gave up.聽 Must be 10 years since I gave up the booze as well.聽 聽I am not sure I'm better for giving up the booze.聽 Anyway, Mrs F should stop again.聽 It's working that's brought it on.聽 I am sure working makes people ill.聽 I say that as I'm rapidly approaching retirement age.
I'm not working currently and I've never been so busy.聽 The garden, shed, office etc have never looked as tidy.聽 I'm even looking at "secondary" DIY projects I thought of doing sometime.聽 And there's about 10 things on my list of things to do.
Oh dear, smoking is not聽 good.
I hope Mrs.F takes up nail biting or sucking on hard candies instead, all bad but smoking is terrible.
Maybe kickboxing would help with the stress, yoga helps me but on some days I need to have 10 sessions a day!!
I used to do yoga at least 3 hours a day 2 classes one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Got so relaxed once that I drove my car up on the curb, was floating in my head!
My niece vapes and has stress. Paying $4,500 a month in rent plus other bills would stress out anyone!
She invited me to live with them in my old age anytime I wish to but no way do I want to add to her stress.
Plus what if she freaks out and goes crazy, then what, who is coming up with that much money per month?
Elon Musk has small homes for just $10,000. They look really nice, get 2聽 or more and build a walkway between them and everyone can have their own space and peace. Just need some land, water and a source of power.
Speaking of stress, went back to immigration yesterday, no real help, they no longer except paper just everything online.
Seems they are setting the system up for frustration so the lawyers have clients.
They did tell me I have a super easy case, no problems... IDK so far not good.

The sweeties will rot Mrs F's teeth if those are the substitutes.聽 Turmoil at the office has brought all this on.聽 Some staff let go and the work distributed amongst the remainder.聽 Productivity is more bang for the buck so to speak.聽 I will have to ask her what her plans are with the smoking - the docs have given her blood pressure pills.聽 She's 60 now so it was not unexpected but she's not taking them, preferring to stick her head in the sand.聽 It's the reality of older age - things go wrong.聽 We don't want her to get sick.聽 We'd be really screwed if she got some dread disease.聽 Me, not so much so long as I go quickly. I am supposedly insured enough for them to be all comfortable for quite a while.
Wow, $4500 a month in rent.聽 That sounds really extreme.聽 If she's paying out that much, surely she could just buy or even build somewhere?聽 At least there might be capital improvement even if there's a mortgage to pay.
Immigration - I think we'll have to call to find out.聽 I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them until the papers are done and stamped.聽 But it's been 5 years since I was there so I have no idea what will happen.
In my immediate future, I'm learning Hungarian still. I mean, really learning it.聽 I was even speaking to the others in Hungarian and got congratulated.聽 聽I seem to be improving but it's a struggle.聽 I feel I am too old for this malarkey.聽 They should just look kindly on me and give me a HU passport.聽 There is a way to appeal to the President but the version currently in office is Fidesz and unlikely to survive the next 3 months.聽 聽A Tisza variant will be installed. Mrs F is a Tisza supporter currently but I think it unlikely it will bring any direct benefits.聽 And it'd be like trading off cronyism, just like the last lot.
Elon Musk? I wouldn't buy a used car from that guy.聽 What a sleazeball. Anyway, there are lots of tiny homes on YT worth seeing. I actually had been thinking of buying a motorhome/RV.聽 It all sounds good and some look great but many are imports with massive petrol engines.聽 Diesel has to be the right way.聽 Prices are huge and they are often classified as heavy vehicles or trucks or buses so they fall into the weight limit for per km road pricing in the EU.聽 Could be cheaper living though.聽 聽And don't like the site - just drive away to another one! Winter storage could be difficult but not impossible.
Looks cloudy today. I was planning to do some DIY cementing if my back holds up.聽 Might be thwarted.
My husband never wanted to even talk about life insurance. Said it was bad karma; Something about cursing yourself.
I do not care at this late date.
As long as I can bunk with family.
So far they all want me! Not sure why, I can be a bit much at times as we all can be.
I am easy going but intense too, depends on how serious a situation is.
Poor Mrs. Fluffy. she must be a good worker for them to lay off people and give her more work.
60 is not old although at 63 my sister was let go after training a new hire to replace her for less money.
She had been working at a workmen,s comp聽 too! Ironic!
Yes, big hassle at immigration, finally called their client services number since I tried and tried and tried to register and it never sent me a password to get into their system;
Changed my computer back to another format too.
My hubby wanted me to talk but the women only spoke Hungarian. How does that help people who are new to Hungary??
She was nice, talked to her supervisor and called us back.Same info I already knew and failed at!
She said to keep trying that their system might be overloaded. Loaded yes,but more like full of it!
I suspect the system is rigged so lawyers and consultants have work.
If they made it easy, no one would hire them.
No more walking in and waiting to get in, all online and not easy to get through.
Personally, I am about ready to throw in the towel and hire someone, figure over 10 years time it will balance out cost wise, Odds are I never have to do it again unless I am still kicking at 81 and still in Hungary.
I know we are not good with tech but this is really too much!
Lawyers in the US charge around $400. per hour on up!
My Vegas friend said she spent $145,000 on one to handle her moms estate!
No idea where she spent all the money over the years but she does tend to indulge聽 allot.
My friend Lisa passed from stress related issues at the start of covid.
She had just come out of a years long court battle with her 2 older brother over their mom,s estate.
Her husband was fighting prostate cancer on top of it. The stress was too much for her.
Yes, my niece showed me photos of the 3 story hoe she rents.
4 bedrooms, 3 baths in a very posh area. Silicon valley people live there.
All her neighbors are wealthy Asian or Indians who are in silicon valley. She said it is super safe and very quiet, no drama.
My great niece picks up odd jobs for spending money by house sitting or dog walking or pet sitting.
The pay is decent, at least $100. a day and the work is easy enough.
I can not really see myself picking up dog poo in my 70s, but then again one does what one needs to do.
She invited me to live with them for nada and already has a room with private bath waiting for me anytime.
It is downstairs and private.
Community pool, bike trails, walking trails and outdoor exercise classes on weekends.
Sounds nice.

That seems a lot of money to spend on an estate.聽 Unless Mom was loaded and worth gazillions or had some weird complications.聽 聽We did it all between ourselves and it cost us just a few 拢拢 in postage and phone calls.聽 It was quite simple and my parents were - by the look of it - incredibly well organised.聽 Mum left everything to Dad and Dad left everything to Mum聽 and in the event of both of their death, us kids got everything evenly split between us.聽 The only complication amongst us five kids was one of us, my elder brother was deceased, so the wording on the will was "remaining children", so my eldest brother did not get a share.聽 It caused a kerfuffle but that was because of misunderstanding by my younger brother telling my eldest brother's kids the wrong thing.聽 They got nothing and we had no choice to split it 4 ways due to the wording of the will.聽 聽We could have done a 5 way split after the settlement but out of the 4 of us - one didn't care, two were against聽 and one was for.聽 But we all followed the rules and there it ended with no disputes.聽 Making a donation afterwards was determined to be an individual choice.聽 Since my eldest bro was quite wealthy, our contribution wouldn't have nudged his kids bank accounts much.
Strangely enough, just these past few months, we found my Dad had shares we'd missed.聽 It wasn't worth a great deal so we donated the shares to a heart condition charity - it was less than 拢200. It was too complicated to try and transfer them.聽 聽And my mother had a Post Office savings book untouched from 1974 which brought in less than 拢10 but took months to get back. I did a claim for a kind of hobby.聽 聽I was disappointed. One would think, 50 years and about 拢2 listed in the book would be worth a lot more.
Our dog outputs poo quite a lot.聽 In the forest, it doesn't matter really.聽 Bears, foxes, deer etc all do it and I am sure there's a lot worse in there.聽 The dog never goes for walks around city streets.聽 But the garden needs checking regularly but that falls to Mrs F's duties and it goes in the trash bin in a plastic biodegradeable bag.聽 聽I do agree, one has to do what one needs to do for $100.聽 聽That's tips rather than earned income.聽 Donny is planning to make tips non-taxable.聽 Yay for that one thing.

Insurance is a waste of money until you need it.聽 I've got to get the front windscreen replaced on my UK car. It's got a big crack in it.聽 It would fail the yearly test if I don't replace it.聽 So it's going to cost me around $200 with the insurance chipping in but probably $800 if there was no insurance for it.聽 聽
Actually I misspoke, my life insurance has been cancelled as I reached 65.聽 They only want to insure people who are no聽 or less risk.聽 Bit annoying.聽 If it went up to 75 or something then maybe it'd be enough.聽 I suppose my risk is too high as I have medical conditions and bad behaviour. I'm making bread and butter pudding from older bread, milk, raisins, butter and edgy bananas (good for cooking, not eating unless cooked).
Mrs F is very diligent and a steady worker with a lot of stamina.聽 She needs attention to detail.聽 And she's really good with people and a calming influence.聽 Good job she's my wife as I can be a volcano under the right circumstances.聽 Well I used to be a volcano, more like an overpressure valve now on a cranky steam engine.
I'm going to have a discussion with Mrs F to see if she can investigate immigration. I won't be able to do it.聽 God forbid it all runs out聽 before we've got an answer. I'd lose my Brexit "benefits" and they can never be brought back.
My niece was raised by her father who came from a well to do family.
As a little girl she always said she had 2 grandmother,s one rich and one poor.
Well we are the poor side but the most loved.
I lived with my sister at age 17 and babysat my niece full time for one summer; All day long and into the night.
I never , ever had to raise my voice or correct her. We get on like bread and butter, both Sags who I must say can be very easy going, until there is a reason not to be.
She lives in a posh area because she is used to it, her deceased husband also came from a well to do family.
His parents still are very active in their lives. That granny is leaving all her estate to my great niece from what I know; My great niece is another Sag , easy going, sweet young lady with a big heart.
They both are wanting me to come live with them in my old age if I ever need a place; Ready anytime they say.
Their lifestyles are very active but they say they can use my help too.
Cooking, whatever, I am still useful. I can do jobs in the hood if I wish to, loads of neighbors with more money then time on their hands. If I ever God forbid find myself in dire straights it is a comfort to know they care.
My bro also wants to rent a place for everyone once he gets himself together.
His lifestyle is not like mine at all though.
My son also wants me in Japan, not sure why though.
It warms my heart to know someone cares what happens.
Yes life insurance they only want to cover young people, they are in it for profit not for payouts.
Immigration is turning into a real nightmare, something is off with the gov; site, my
hubby thinks it has been hacked to force people to hire help.
Nothing would surprise me now.
Oh fun time, spent the afternoon in the police station yesterday.
So casual, never would guess the detectives were real; Tennis shoes, everyday T-shirts on and jeans.
My hubby lost his wallet, pick pockets!!
Have to deal with replacing his cards now.
The fun never ends!!
