Today's Weather
16C and mostly cloudy; forecasting a high of 19C.聽 The wind is back with a vengeance.聽 Weekend is more of the same.

Wind is a serious issue here these past days.聽 聽It's roughing up our plants.聽 聽We have sunflowers growing (Mrs F loves them - very keen on Rembrandt's sunflower paintings). In their early stages, the stalks are very weak.聽 I've had to remove two this morning as the stalks were broken.聽 聽No coming back from that. Not like they'd heal up.
18.6C, wind 3 m/s from NW, UV not showing (but odd as it's blazing sunshine), no clouds on the barometer, humidity 53%. Sunset 20.43h.
It's still too cold to swim in Balaton.聽 We're going there so no canoes or paddleboards. I'm going to take my bike instead and do some "training" (taking the bike on the train, the ferry Siofok to Balatonfured, cycling a bit, ferry again, then lazily returning).聽 Probably a major snooze-a-thon for the weekend.聽 I'm deliberately not in a rush.
Budakeszi (HU home village), burbs of Budapest:
21.5C, UV 3.1 (moderate), wind 4.8 m/s from the SW, humidity 59%聽 Sunset 20.43h, sunrise 04.52.
I got another bowl of cherries off the tree.聽 But what to do with them. My rumtopf plan is a bit expensive.聽 I was thinking like, 2L but the cost of rum is too high (like聽 13 EUR a litre) and the sugar is bad for me.聽 I'd be making it for someone else.聽
I am now thinking of bottling them in their own juices.聽 Need to get on with it as the cherries are maturing fast.聽 I doubt we'll be able to process more than about 3 large bowls of them. I am not sure how to do it.聽 I need Mrs F and she's out!
16C with clear blue skies at the moment; it was raining earlier this morning.聽 Winds are quite strong (32 km/h) from the NW, which makes it feel cold.
They're forecasting the winds to drop overnight and the temps to start creeping up, so I might stop moaning about the cold and perhaps take my cardie off.
15C, but the wind has gone, so it's quite pleasant outside, forecasting a high of 18C.
Sunset at Balaton:

Sunset at Balaton:- @fluffy2560
So beautiful 馃槏
@Cheryl
Balaton is famous for its sunsets.聽 Sunset is obviously to the West.
If looking closer at the picture, there are some stars visible:聽 Jupiter is the brightest, Venus is right next to it and Mars a bit further to the right.聽 聽It's easy to see Jupiter but others are a bit fuzzy.
It's 12.00h lunchtime and it's 19.4C, wind NW 2.0 m/s, UV not registering (cloudy) , humidity 51%, pressure 1011 hPa (lower/cloudy), sunset 20.44 (sunrise was 04.52h).聽 聽
I think we're going to get a thunderstorm.聽 聽Low humidity, sunshine and clouds will build up static electricity.
More Balaton (note ferries/boats free for over 65s, ID needed sometimes, bikes NOT free):
Car Ferry Tihany-Rev to Szantod:

Pirates ahoy:

13C and cloudy; solar still gets something (292W), the cloud is scheduled to break up around lunchtime, so we'll see how much it picks up then.聽 We charged the car last night, 拢3.64, I can cope with that.

I received an electrical meter which allows me to see what is being used.聽 Unfortunately the morons sent me the wrong one (no WiFi mode).聽 Just absurd.聽 I'm complaining.
Going to be warm today.聽 24C, high gusty winds (>4 m/s), UV 4.2, sunset 20.45.聽 聽The wind is a real problem around here.聽 Our sunshades are under constant pressure from high gusts.聽
Really too hot today at 28C but feels like 30+ in the sun.聽 Brutal.聽 Wind WSW 3.4 m/s (really blowing/gusty).聽 UV 3.4 and humidity 43%.
We're not able to keep up with the cherry collection.聽 Dog walking postponed until the sun starts to go down.聽 The ceiling fans are going but we've not resorted to airco yet.
It's going to be a real heatwave these next few weeks.聽 All days over 30C.聽 Dog walking is postponed indefinitely due to blistering heat.聽 The doggy is encouraged to stay inside.聽 Even the cat is in hiding.
It's 12.30h now and it's 27C now. UV is 2.2. It was higher earlier on but it's clouded now and some clouds look a bit dark and heavy.聽 Sun is burning it off. Humidity is 45%, sunset 20.45h.聽 Sunrise was 04.52h. Pressure 1018 hPA.
@fluffy2560
We're 22C and partly sunny at the moment.聽 We're having a Warrant Officers trade re-union this weekend, hoping it stays about this temp, nothing worse than having to behave yourselves in a suit.
21C and sunny and good air quality - yay, the perfect balance, nice enough for shorts and t-shirts, but not sweltering.
Boris saved next doors dogs from getting run over in the school traffic; he was stood by the back gate, barking like mad; nothing new in him barking, but this was his "get your ar$e here, quick" bark.聽 Opened the gates and both next doors dogs were sat there, obviously distressed at being outside on their own, so I started gathering them up, when next door got back from taking their son to school; no idea how they got out, just glad they're safe.

We have several doggy neighbours but I haven't seen them escape.聽 Ok, maybe one.聽 It came straight to our garden to play with our dog.聽 Our dog escapes because of our own negligence like leaving the driveway gate open and lack of coordination (informing each other the gate is open).聽 But she doesn't wander far and she's friends with everyone.聽 聽We have a "petting" hole in our fence so the dog can stick its head out for head rubs/strokes with passing people/kids.聽 She's a popular stop as kids pass by here to and from school.聽 Lots of people know her but don't know us.
Meanwhile, back at the Fluffy Towers weather station, it's 29.5C, 1.2 m/s wind from SSE, 40% humidity, sunset 20.46h (sunrise 04.52h), pressure 1018.聽 More blue skies than clouds.聽 聽We have the airco on.聽 It was just T (to quote Ella Fitzgerald).
Only excitement today is the bin men came and took away our rubbish. Our doggy throughly enjoys their visits and can hear them coming in the next street.聽 聽But the day is young, something interesting might happen.
It's 09.40h and already 30C.聽 The sun is overhead and beating down on us.聽 The grass is utterly frazzled and the dog looks like sizzled.
Wind is 0.2 m/s from S, with gusts up to 1.6 m/s.聽 Humidity is 49%.聽 Pressure 2021 hPA and the UV is 3.1. Sunrise was 04.52 and sunset will be 20.46h.
It's the summer solstice, so the days will get shorter by 1 or 2 minutes until 21 December when they will get longer again.聽 This would have been the and connect with your inner druid.
23C and overcast.聽 Just got back from Cirencester, good weekend had by all.
Forecast for next week is around 30C; should be interesting; thank goodness for aircon.

Airco is a bit hungry on the energy front. Like a big fridge.
If down Cirencester way, then an early stop off at Stonehenge on the way back would have been doable.
I'd have gone myself but my druid costume is in the wash.

one of the benefits of solar; I turned the air con on as we drove back and it鈥檚 been on all day, still produced more power than I鈥檝e used.
18C and cloudy this morning, the cloud is forecast to clear around lunchtime, then a high of 25C, I can live with that.
I forgot to mention Stonehenge, it's 50 miles from Cirencester and I've been there many times over the past (before they put a fence around it).聽 My first tour in the military was on Salisbury plain and I feel like I know each blade of grass intimately.聽 It also brings up one of the issues of driving an EV, scheduling if and where to recharge; if I had gone to Stonehenge, I would have had to hang around for a couple of hours while I put enough charge back in the car to get home, assuming I can find somewhere around Stonehenge that's reasonably fast.

I never went to Salisbury Plain but I did go and run around and hide on the hills around Catterick and other places like Lydd.聽 聽My parents lived for a time West of Stonehenge so I passed it regularly.聽 I haven't been down there for years. I don't know what happened with the bypass cum tunnel they planned.聽 I think it was cancelled.
When are they going to design an EV with solar panels built into the roof?聽 Then while driving or just parked, it'd help charge it up on its own.聽 聽My bro had a VW where the sunroof had cells in it to trickle charge the battery. Strange it never caught on.
Stats this morning:聽 30C at 11.52h, UV 3.8, 1019 hPA, sunset 20.46h and 2.6 m/s from WNW.
Mrs F and I have to go to Ikea to collect some furniture for one of the HU cousins (we've got an estate/kombi car so we can put the seats down).聽 Be sweltering doing work outside.
35掳 C and must have felt higher than that. They are forecasting it to be hotter next week.
Forecast to have thunderstorms today, but have said this in the past. The sky is a gray black, so who knows?
Currently, 17C and clear skies; forecast 32C later this afternoon.聽 Not forecasting any rain around here, although the Met Office have published a weather warning for storms over the weekend to the South and West of the country.
@fluffy2560
Your comment re solar panels on cars prompted me to check for myself; the only manufactures I could find who offer it as a manufactures option were Mercedes and Hyundai.聽 The reason why more don't is they claim that the car is not big enough, but I think they are missing the point,聽 So, it seems like a DIY project for those who want it.

While we were driving about, the car reported 35C.聽 聽It's blisteringly hot.聽 聽We have to water the garden now as things look really frazzled.

Probably beyond most DIY efforts unless it could be incorporated into say a roof rack.聽 The entire car could be shaped solar panels.聽 I would think the total surface area of a car is probably the same as 3 or 4 panels.聽 So not insignificant.聽 Certainly the roof, the bonnet (US: hood) and the boot (US: trunk) could be liberally covered.聽 The sides could also be done although probably less efficient.聽 聽They just need to work out how to shape the panels and cells to fit the design.聽 And no paint!聽 Any colour so long as it's solar cell grey.
Today's stats:聽
30C at 12.51h, UV 0, 1015 hPA, sunset 20.47h (sunrise 4.53h) and 1.2 m/s from S.
Mrs F put up the pool and it's leaking.聽 I knew it had a hole in it.聽 So we'll pump out the water and use it on the plants and try to find out where the hole is.聽
Really this pool should have a solar heating system integrated with the pump.聽 I did see one in Aldi once. I should have bought it.

My step dad put up a portable pool ;
We had to sift the ground before setting it up to make sure it would not tear with stones or small rocks, etc.
A good patch should work fine.
Hot out but not as bad as yesterday.

I got up at 05.30h with the idea to take the furry friend walkies in a cool forest.聽 聽But no-one was up and so I laid on the sofa as I thought it was a bit too early and I'd wake the others up clumping around.聽 And then it was too late, I'd nodded off again.聽 By about 8am, it was like 27C.聽 聽If I'd managed to get going right away, it would have been 22C and it would have been quite pleasant.聽 Now I think it's too hot to take the doggy walkies.聽 She wouldn't thank me for dragging her around in that fur coat.
We've found a hole in the pool using soapy water and we've got a repair kit and I've applied a patch.聽 It takes 24h to be fully cured, so we'll have to try and fill it later this afternoon.
Now today's stats:
29C at 10.30h, UV 3.4, 1016 hPA, humidity 43%, sunset 20.47h (sunrise 4.53h) (again) and 1.2 m/s from SSE.
22C currently, with a light wind from the SE; forecast high of 29C mid-afternoon; tomorrow they are expecting a high of 32C and bad air quality; I shall be staying indoors.

Exceptional weather.聽 I read a report that the UK will become more like the south of France within maybe 50 years. Biggest problem everywhere will be water.聽 UK needs to build a lot more reservoirs.聽 And with net positive electricity via green sources, perhaps the UK should think of desalination too.
Hereabouts:
29.5C, UV 3.6, 1016 hPA, wind 1.7 WSW, humidity 34%, sunset 20.47h (sunrise was 4.54h).
I wouldn't be surprised if we had a thunderstorm or two. I looked at the radar and it's blue skies and no serious cloud anywhere.聽

Just saw that on the news.
Readfing the comments on Facebook from news reports about the heat, my gawd there are idiots out there.
Its summer, how do other countries cope that have much hotter weather than the UK?
Why close the schools?
Blah Blah
On the continent, they start school at lot earlier than the UK, they also have longer summer holidays then the UK. But this is June! This is not normal weather for the month.
Im dreading July and Ausgust if its going to be the same!
24C and sunny at the moment; forecast for later on is 34C.聽 Then they are forecasting for next week, a slow move down to seasonal normal, which around here is circa 24C.
We had a big thunderstorm overnight with some heavy rain; the rumbling carried on pretty much all through the night, it's put out the wildfires that had sprung up out on the moors, which will give the emergency services a break.
25C inside ATM.
Fans running, seems tolerable to me for now.
Hope to head to the water within days.
Seems we are always busy with some sort of errand and not able to just have a day to cool off.
My plants like this weather. Growing some tomatoes and chard in my windowsill.
A real shame about lake Velence. Always been sort of mucky water there but now, forget it.
The place will be a ghost town soon if they do not fix the water situation there.
Finally will be able to buy a villa there for pennies on the dollar!
We actually need to replace our winter heater;
Hard to think of that right now but might be the best time to purchase one for a deal price.

It's absolutely roasting outside.聽 Like being in the Sahara.聽 I went to the shed, rubbish bins and some garden locations like the compost heap and it was brutal.聽 聽One needs a hat and sunscreen.聽
Our house has a lot of windows so there's a lot of solar energy coming in.聽 We have blinds so they are down.聽 The dog is inside being airconditioned.聽 Cat doesn't seem bothered.
Stats:
34C,聽 wind 1.5 m/s SE, pressure 1017 hPa, almost no clouds, sunset 20.47h, UV 3.6 (high).
Velence has dried up in the past but it's very unusual with聽 only 1 or 2 instances. It's just the same all over with the "steppe" lakes and the cause is the same - humans!聽 聽 Those villas will indeed be worthless.聽 One could read about the Aral Sea - it's almost gone now. Velence could be the same.聽 Just a slightly muddy dust bowl. It will take years before it recovers.聽 Balaton looks OK right now but these high temperatures are not going to be beneficial overall.
We need rain, a good deal of it.聽 Just for 2h overnight, a good downpour.聽 Monday will be 39C but there's a possibility of some rain by next Tuesday to Thursday.
Generally, best to stay inside, in the dark.
