Replacement of my Residence Permit Card

It appears that to continue to obtain a replacement Permit Card issued before Brexit; Identita  (Malta) Office will only accept emails covering photo copies of Bank Statements, the period  (in my case) covering the years 2022 to 2026, They will NOT accept any other methods of acceptance of these documents.

I have no facilities for getting these documents to them; can someone please advise

We moved last year so had to apply for a new card, we also changed to a permanent residency one and had to submit copies of our bank statements in Gozo.

I had my residenadce  card stolen abroad, & had to apply  for a replacement,  I too had to provide  bank statements  from.2021 to 2025, I'm  with BOV & went to branch & they printed  statements  out for me

Good luck.

Who do you bank with? HSBC Malta internet banking offers the facility to download the actual statements, in the same  format that hard copies would be posted to you if you had opted for paper copies. You could attach these downloads  as a pdf to an email.

@hubnera

Did you manage?

When you say "I have no facilities for getting these documents to them" what exactly do you mean? If you explain what facilities you need, perhaps someone can help you.

If you only have paper statements but do not have a scanner, you can find a stationery shop who provide photcopying services and they may be able to scan documents to your email address for a small charge, so you can forward to Identita.

Whilst I don't want to appear that I am advertising, I know that Papier at Msida offer this service for less than one euro, like many stationery shops do throughout Malta.

A short history: 11 March 1997, bought an apartment  in St Paul's Bay; I got my ID Card after satisfying the authorities that my Pension was sufficiently adequate, this after an interview. Medically registered and went through COVID using the recognised my Residence ID Card, I have a current account with HSBC that was in place throughout my living in Malta . Due to my UK Pension account and Debit Card duly taxed at source, the remainder of income being for use in Malta.

A request was made for a replacement of my Residence Permit Card through Identita Malta application made (as recorded on the police report) sent to them their heading Lost/Stolen. To my astonishment my HSBC Malta account was rejected due to being insufficient as they do not reflect any local transactions (I would have thought the my monthly payments to GO Plc and that of ARMS with the rest being the general cost of Living using cash drawn from my UK account from over these years!

I too, had my ARMS  statements rejected, as I was told they could have been  paid remotely  from outside  Malta.

And only bank statements  would do.

With my BOV  statements  showing  ATM withdrawals,  local shop payments, etc.

I have my uk pensions  converted  into euros &paid into my BOV account.

Good luck.

I'm sorry you are going through this ordeal. Around 8 years ago I used to work as an immigration specialist so I can fully understand your frustration. At times, it felt the goal posts were moved each time I visited Identita.

Can I ask how did you withdraw cash for your day to day expenses? Was this over the corner at a local bank branch? Via a local  ATM? Surely this will be reflected on your bank statement. Did you do any shopping and paid by card at a local shop? Used a restuarant?

Is there any other means you could prove you were phyically present as a resident of Malta? Did you attend any medical appointments? Proof of these are available on the "My Health" portal.

Good luck
