Gozo

Hi all,
I am coming to Malta in January to have a scout around and have been researching as much as I can via the internet.
But would welcome any good advice you who are already there could offer.
I have heard that Gozo is very quite this could suit me well,as I like a quite life. But I am worried it might be the kind of place where it would be impossible to find a bar open in the winter or a shop open on a Sunday.
am I being too pessimistic?

Cheers!

You won't find a shop open anywhere on Sunday! Except a small grocery maybe.
Thanks,MYRKUR,
Do you mean that most of the shops in Malta are closed on a Sunday? or just Gozo.
you are more likely to find a shop open on a Sunday in Gozo than Malta as the whole of Gozo is designated a tourist area and thus much easier to get a permit for sunday opening

"I am worried it might be the kind of place where it would be impossible to find a bar open in the winter" - do you think we all hibernate for the winter ?? In tourist areas some close, but in general bars stay open all year round
really is that true? I am so moving to Gozo! :D so which shops are actually open on Sunday in Gozo?
Arkadia and The Duke supermarkets in Victoria, Lighthouse supermarkets in Munxar and Gharb, a few in Marsalforn
Oh no I didn't mean grocers and food stores. Those open on Sundays in Malta too, like Trolees (or Trolleys?) and Maypole are all open on Sundays and Maypole on public holidays too. I meant all the other shops, like clothes, accessories, watch, shoes, pharmacies (like 1 per 10 villages open till 12 on Sunday?), mobile shops, furniture, sport and so on and so on - well except Baystreet maybe, but how many time can you go there anyway
I think they could open, but don't (other than pharmacies on a rotation basis)
Lol that's my point. They don't open on sundays.
GeorgeinGozo. No,I didn't really think you all hibernate in winter!
But that is the point of asking questions on forums such as this,I have never been to Gozo. But I have been to places that are very religious and bars and shops don't open at all on a Sunday.
But thanks you two,you have pretty much answered my question. It was food shops I was thinking of,and it seems I don't need to be concerned.
Quite understand the sunday bit, it was the "But I am worried it might be the kind of place where it would be impossible to find a bar open in the winter" that surprised me - there are 30,000 people living in Gozo all year round, many of whom are known to enjoy the odd drink or two
Yes, mea culpa.I worded the post badly.Very glad there are people who like a drink or two, sound like just my kind of people!
The bars here always seem to be open which is always good! Recently more shops seem to be opening on Sundays even if it's just for the morning.
Arkadia and The Duke supermarkets in Victoria not sure about any others.Bars always seem to be open here
Hi everybody!
I'm going to live in Gozo in February. Anyone knows if there is a school for a 20 months girl in Xlendi or surroundings? thank you
