Visiting Malta in February or March

Hi everybody,

Thanks for answering my previous questions.

Before making some moving decision, I would like to visit Malta off season. I have planned to do it in February or March. Just to move around, and to get feel of the place.

But I would also like to make it as a nice holiday, so what would be your recommendations for visiting period, would there be enough sun to enjoy in Malta at that time?

Also, some recommendations for hotels or rent-a-car agencies would be appreciated. Although I have found plenty of affordable offers through booking(.)com.

Cheers,

Nemanja

What are your personal preferences regarding hotels? What price bracket? Where? Green Motion Car Hire from the Airport have been good for my family.
But a caveat, if you want to know what Malta is really like then I suggest a self catering apartment, experience looking after yourself.
Thank for quick reply!

I do not have any special preferences, although see view would not be be bad, as long as hotel is clean and quiet.

Rent on airport is good thing, so I do not need to worry about transfer. But with quick search a found lot bad reviews :

Why self catering ? I have planned to visit a shops, to see the prices, that is a must, but no need to waste time on short holiday for that.

What about whether?
Why self catering ? because you look after yourself and get a better idea of prices, and choices.
As for car hire, I'm just stating our family's experience.
Chacun a son gout.
I did not understood last sentence.

:) Each to their own :)

Regarding car hire, ill stick with international companies, as Sixt... we will see how it goes.

What about whether, is it good enough for walking and staying outside, I do not plan to swim anyway in February ?
You can always swim. Weather? usually wettest last two weeks February but who knows? Small islands so difficult to predict.
Last Jan - March I spent plenty of time outside and got a good tan :)

BUT, you stated you wan to experience the islands 'off season', so why be concerned if weather is not so good as usual?
As I wanted to make it also as holiday, and nobody likes bad whether on holiday even in February.
February tends to be one of the wettest months here
Actually, Feb is only the 6th wettest month on average - it is, however, the coldest, both in air and sea temperature

really I am surprised...

so the worst on average being which months ?
according to the link, Nov and Dec
Interesting i have always found and thought that january and february were the worst - certainly in the last 5-6yrs - and have found that Nov and Dec were ok for us.
Its Suppose to rain on Christmas day. Dam no snow.
Well, if you miss snow you can always move to Austria :)

So, it is better to skip February ? I have planed to do a lot of walking when I come, so sitting at聽 hotel bar with rain is not best聽 way to explore Malta.

How about March ? Should it be ok ?
To hedge your bets, I would say last 2 weeks in March onwards.
Thanks
