Hi All,聽 so we are due to depart the UK on Monday to take up residency in Malta for work.聽 As we aren鈥檛 currently residents the guidance suggest we email the superintendent for public health requesting special authorisation which we have now done a couple of times.

As I鈥檝e said before if you鈥檝e read a good of my posts we are a family or 4 from the UK.聽 We have agreed to rent our house out, half of our possessions have left for a Malta with a shipping company, we鈥檝e sold our cars, taken our children out of nursery, left our jobs and paid 鈧�600 euro for private Covid tests to do before we travel.

I鈥檝e outlined all of this in my email requesting auth to travel but as mentioned so far don鈥檛 have a response or acknowledgement to say it鈥檚 being looked into.聽 I know others that have contacted the same address after me, have already had a response.

I鈥檓 not sure if this is a good thing and means that our situation is being looked into? We only have this email address and no other way to contact - I鈥檓 posting on here on the off chance that anyone else knows whew this email address is a part of and if it鈥檚 worth me trying to contact anyone by phone - the email address is 鈥淐OVID-19.vetting.gov.mt鈥�

As Christmas draws closer and the offices may be closed聽 I鈥檓 fearful we may be left in this limbo, unsure weather to take our tests on Christmas Day and travel or not.聽 Our flights with Ryanair have so far not been cancelled.

Dear Allison,
My partner found herself unable to board for exactly the same reasons as you and after undergoing the expense of tests etc. As a resident of Malta I tried to reason with the airline but she was聽 blocked!
So we are alone at Christmas and naturally very sad.
My advice to you is not to test and fly Christmas day unless Ryanair can guarantee you will fly.
I will be in touch with Prof. Charmaine Gauci and will let you know the outcome.

Thank you so much Ryanair have said that we can travel and they so far aren鈥檛 cancelling the flight, however without authorisation from Maltese authorities we won鈥檛 be allowed to enter once we arrive.

It is quite simple, if your partner's journey is none essential, then she is not allowed to travel. Even if you are a 'Professor'!

According to the Malta Airport website, the email to use is covid19.vetting@gov.mt

[Note, no dash between covid and 19]

I have lived here for 32 years and the fact is my partner also lived here with me but as we have a business and another home in Armenia she remained as a resident there. The reason for being here is important and frankly none of your business.
