Any Problems for a UK Citizen moving to Romania ???

Celtic1987

Hi there

I was wondering if there may be any problems that I am unaware of for a UK Citizen moving to Romania ???

From What I've gathered a UK Citizen needs no kind of work permit or visa to work in Romania, Is this correct ?

I also heard after 3 months living in Romania I would have to then apply for a registration certificate with the Romanian Authority for Aliens.
Is this also correct ?
Is there anything else I should be aware of before I come to Romania in 2 months ????

Thankyou

Chris

You're right, you can come here and live without the need of any kind of visa or permit. The only thing to add is that you should apply for the registration certificate within those three months if you intend to stay more than three months, rather than applying after the three-month period has expired.

Thanks mate,
Thats great news, sounds pretty simple.
How hard is it applying for the Registation Cirtificate and how likely is it to be excepted ?

Thanks again

Maykal

The application is pretty easy. Sometimes you can apply in the morning and pick up the certificate in the afternoon. You just need to make sure you have all the right documents with you. Depending on the basis for your application (work, study, living from own funds, etc) the documents you need to take vary slightly. From memory I think you need some kind of proof of accommodation (rental agreement/house deeds), proof of health insurance valid for the month in which you are applying, a fiscal stamp which you get from the post office, the application form, passport (and copies), photos, and the fee (a few quid), plus something pertaining to the basis of the application (eg, a bank account with cash in it if not working, a work contract if working, a letter from a college/uni if studying, or whatever).

If you go to the office, you can get more accurate details of what you need. There's a separate office for EU certificate applications so there's not normally much of a wait either.

There's no question of not being accepted. You have the right to live and work in any EU state, so all you're doing is registering the fact that you're legally residing in the country. Unless you're a fugitive or on an Interpol black list, you'll get your certificate.

It's valid for five years.

No worries mate. Here's something from the Ministry of Internal Affairs that tells you more about the documents you need. You can also download the application form to save yourself a trip.

This is where you have to go:
Str. Nicolae Iorga nr. 3  sector 1, Bucureşti
