Just need some advice and support

Hi everyone hope you're all doing your best out there. I'm just writing this to put it out there, I've been studying in the u.k for the last 4 years now first visited in 2016 and now I'm doing my post-grad degree. I studied International relations with french in my undergrad and currently doing psychology with GBC. I want to work in childcare and education, or in social work with children, mental health, and things in that field. I've got a few years of experience working in the u.k mainly in retail and in schools in cover work. As an American looking at prospects to work and remain in the U.K it feels grim, I understand tier 2 and visa routes but honestly, I'm just lost and feel a little without hope? I've looked at going back to the U.S to do school psychology which is what my career goal is but I just have preferred living abroad and adapting to U.K culture. I've been looking at Scotland and plan on moving there in a few months. Essentially I'm on my student visa until the fall which at that point I can get on the 2 year postgrad visa but right now I'm just thinking聽 whats the point?

I'm riddled with worries and it's been hard enough doing a postgrad while in lockdown but without knowing what's next I'm barely making any progress academically. If anyone is out there and would give me any advice that would make me feel not alone or just dumb thinking and planning.

聽聽聽I think you have plenty of pportunities here in Scotland.聽 I'm an Argentine-Italian Psychologist who moved in 2018.聽 I have my Uni and Post grads degrees accepted and validated by the BPS (British Psychological society) which allows me to do my private practice and work with online therapy platforms.聽 If you wanted to apply for the NHS or others, you should go for a COSCA certification as well.

On the other hand, if you want to work with children, there are lots of volunteering work that could lead you into the field while looking for a position or you could even work in nurseries.聽 As well as that, you can apply for PA (pupil assistant) in schools as a first step.

Scotland is a very welcoming country but I totally understand the uncertainty you are going through, I've been there too.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Rominabc hasn't been around for a while, so to try and help you.

In general, experience is always useful when looking for work, especially if there is competition for the role.聽 Your qualification will have to be recognised in the UK, and I've found an organisation called IMG Connect which assists overseas medical professionals in this.聽 Apparently the way to achieve this is via something known as the HCPC, they have a website on the subject and this will take you straight to it.聽 They also have a LinkedIn page () where you can reach out to your peers and ask questions.
