I heard that about three years ago, many people used this method to renew their multiple visa. However, the Ministry of Interior later found that it was illegal and took action against many of them.

So please reconfirm before proceeding. I would suggest going to Abu Dhabi or Sharjah instead.

No one can confirm.聽 聽They keep closing / opening this route off and on.聽 Also keep in mind that the U turn on the causeway after Bahrain immigration is closed most of the times now (years ago, it was always open). So this means that you actually have to park car (after going through Bahrain immigration booth), go inside immigration office and ask them to open that gate........which means that they will ask you why and then they may not allow it.聽 聽Most people who I know, who have done that recently........have actually gone into Saudi, crossed Saudi immigration and then did a U turn.......meaning you need a Saudi visa.
