Hi all,

is it difficult for expats to open a bank account in Iraq ?

Which documents are required to open a bank account in Iraq ?

How long does it take to open it ?

Is there any restriction for expats regarding the services (loans for instance)聽 ?

Which bank would you recommend ?

Hello Julied,

No it is not difficult, me and my manager (who happens to be a US citizen) easily opened a bank account. He only needed his passport with him, and a couple of pictures. It will be opened immediately, but if you need a credit card that will take more than a month to arrive.

We used Baghdad Bank. Thats probably the best one, it also has branches all over iraq. (at least in erbil..)

Hello. I'm from iraq, erbil but since few years living in India.聽 I want to open a ban account in iraq but I don't know how to apply,聽 is possible to apply online from here ? Is there any international bank account ? My email is nasreenshafeeq@gmail.com I will be gald to get any information.
