Hi Everyone,

I am coming to Doha and figured this community would be the best place to seek some help.

We are staying at the Hilton Doha at the Pearl with a 10month old and I was wondering whether the supermarkets are easily accessible and whether I would find a range of food that I can use to feed a baby ? Also are you able to buy alcohol or only at the hotels please?

Secondly I am looking for a taxi that would have a baby car seat - would really appreciate a recommendation please?

No need to worry Everything is easily accessible and you can use rental taxis on monthly basis.

Hi Kate,

You'll be absolutely fine for baby supplies. There are several supermarkets very close to the Hilton at the Pearl. Inside the Pearl itself, you've got Spinneys in Porto Arabia, which carries a good range of baby food pouches, formula, and nappies, including brands like Ella's Kitchen and Cow & Gate. Just outside the Pearl on the mainland, Lagoona Mall has a large Carrefour with everything you'd need, including organic puree pouches and baby snacks. It's a five-minute taxi ride or an easy Uber. You won't struggle to feed your 10-month-old at all.

On alcohol, it's only available in licensed hotel bars and restaurants. You won't be able to buy any from a supermarket for your room. You can enjoy a glass with dinner at a hotel, but that's about it.

The taxi with a baby car seat is much trickier. Standard Ubers and Karwa taxis don't have them, and it can be a real source of stress for visitors. I'd strongly recommend booking a private airport transfer in advance through a company like Doha Limousine or your hotel concierge, specifically requesting a car seat. Failing that, bring your own lightweight travel car seat that's easy to strap in with a seatbelt. It's a bit of a faff, but the peace of mind is worth it.
