Working (I am simple)

cdw057

Turkey is a great country and people are clever, why do expat people look for a work permit, unless you have VERY special skills (including Turkish language), I think Turkey does not need you (and with special skills there are opportunities in Western Europe (quite a bit). Why do people think they have a chance inbetween all of these clever Turks. (I do not understand, personally if I need additional income I would go back to Western Europe).

Ask yourself the question, what can I do better than Turks and if so why would a EU company not hire you?

All these discussions and posts on work permits I think 90% are irrelevant (perhaps even more)

I've had no problems with job offers in Turkey.

Absolutely no Turkish, but impeccable English, plus almost 40yrs in customer service.

So my advice (FWIW) is if you're not indigenous to Turkey look for jobs in tourism specialising in holiday's for your country where your language abilities can be best used.

@marktmorgan Thanks, but me, I am not looking for a job at all. Perhaps for the last years before pension in Luxembourg or Netherlands, but really it should be EUR 10 K pm. (not in Turkey I would say (unless I could be adviser to Turkish fund-industry)

More in general, I know quite some people who are NOT Turkish but work for real estate agents (Russian/German (sometimes also English) speaking. They tend to work for quite a basic salary (however some pluses for serious companies (free lunch, often transport, social contributions etc.)

I am old and I do not need the daily stress (I remember), better with a smaller budget than slightly higher income.

I have my internet, my cigarettes, my alcohol and restaurants (for the latter I have difficulties to walk, but 500 m is still managble (with 1 or 2 stops for 1 minute)

My wife is happy, we lived in a village in Hungary (very nice and I miss this from time to time), but my wife did everything and travelling is just by bus or my car. In Mahmutlar everything is close, beach, market, supermarket, hairdresser, butcher (LAMB), ...

My wife does not need me :)
