Turkey Rental Process

hakimSJA

I’m wondering if this process I am going through is normal.

So we saw the apartment, liked it.

The realtor speaks on behalf of the owner. They had his signature, passport(non Turkish citizen) and paperwork. As he won’t be back in Turkey until later.

We went to the realtor office and signed the paperwork.

I wanted to get the contract notarized, they said that I can get it notarized after sending payment. But I would be going to get it notarized by myself?

Does this sound normal?

Were there any steps missed?

hi there it's a common practice ,the landlord gives a power of attorney to the realtor ,since a lot of investors/landlords  live outside the country .
but to notarize the lease the landlord has to be present at the notary office .
all the best

Are any damages I saw in the unit supposed to be put in the contract before I signed?

The whole place should be video taped or at least take pictures of each room and the furniture if any.
