@ltoby955 actually I almost had the same problem when I was arriving in Brasilia last month. Only when I inquired if I would be able to find a Receita Federal office in the airport to extend my tourist visa did she say that in that case she needed to stamp an entry date in my passport to count my days in country. And that must be a new procedure,  because I recall that I my passport was always previously stamped (unlike in Europe. )

@EricPau Ok yeah I had the exit and entry stamp but there is a place where they can insert the days that you can stay in the country for.

I returned last Thursday as mentioned with no dates marked on the entry as to the days left out of my 90 days.

Yesterday I went to the Police Federal and checked the days left up until yesterday and in my head, it came to 48 left to take. but the police said they didn't need to put the number of days left as the scanning machine calculates the days according to the Police Federal I have until the 16th of February and I need to apply around the 16th of January for the 90-day extention. so it seems like they are counting from the last time I entered Brazil and not from my first trip this year in June and indeed my second trip here in October, is this possible or do they make mistakes?
