VITEM XI Visa

Joeymendes31

So I am about to start gathering everything I need for the VITEM XI Visa because my daughter (born in Brazil) and fianc茅 live in Brazil. I am going to be going through the Brazil Consulate in Boston Massachusetts. I am currently in Boston Massachusetts because I stayed my 180 days in Brazil this year already, so I want to get this visa so I can get back to my daughter and finance fast. I understand I need my daughter鈥檚 original birth certificate, so I am having my fianc茅 send her birth certificate to me tomorrow. But what is everything else I need? And what exact steps do I need to take? The consulates website is kind of basic it does not really explain everything in detail I want to make sure I do everything correctly.

09/22/24 @joeymendes31.聽 According to the Consulate's website, you're going to need these documents:

1) PASSPORT: Signed, valid up to the end of your trip and with at least one blank visa page available (amendment pages are not accepted).

2) VISA APPLICATION FORM: One per applicant, completely filled out online and signed by the passport holder or his/her parents/guardians. You will need to print only the receipt page with the bar code.

3) PHOTO: One recent 2鈥 x 2鈥 passport-photo size, front view, white background.

4) BACKGROUND CHECK: FBI Clearance or Local Police Department Clearance issued within the last six months.

5) BIRTH CERTIFICATE: copy of your birth certificate.

NOTE: Once in Brazil, you must present at Federal Police a second copy of your birth certificate authenticated by an Apostille. It should be also translated by a certified translator in Brazil (鈥渢radutor juramentado鈥).

As you note, you will need your daughter's original Birth Certificate that shows you as the father.聽 If the Certificate does not show you as the father, your fianc茅e needs to talk to the cart贸rio to have it revised.

As I mentioned in your other thread, you should have a duplicate of your FBI Background Check, with an apostille, with you when you go to Brazil in case the Pol铆cia Federal ask for it.

Since your daughter and not your fianc茅e is the "Chamante", the Brazilian with whom your relationship is justifying your request, you may not need an any documentation from your fianc茅e.聽 The Consulate may request additional documents, though, and if they do you'll need to obtain them.聽 The most likely one would be an authenticated copy, both sides, of your fianc茅e's ID Card.聽

You should be able to apply for the visa before you buy your ticket.
