@Kat2202 I live in a very small village in Northeastern Brazil. Since I don't know where you are located now and how much travel you would do from there, I would generally suggest getting comfortable in your place with some cold or hot cocoa (depends on where you are) and stream some classic Christmas movies - "It's A Wonderful Life, Home Alone, Miracle on 34th. St., Elf" and possibly old pictures of your family during the holiday.

11/18/25 @Kat2202.聽 You're almost ready -- how exciting!聽 聽Like @roddiesho, I'd probably take advantage of the holidays to get settled in your new home, but if you want to travel, here are some reasonably safe places for a woman traveling alone with (I assume) limited Portuguese:

-- any of the smaller Northeastern capitals (i.e., Aracaju, Sergipe, Macei贸, Alagoas, or Jo茫o Pessoa, Para铆ba) are very nice, reasonably safe, and have good beaches.聽 I'd avoid Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, which has had some issues with crime lately.聽 Farther south, Vit贸ria or anywhere on the coast of Esp铆rito Santo should be a good choice.

-- Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais is an attractive and pleasant city, with plenty to do and day trips to picturesque colonial mining towns in the area available.

-- Bras铆lia is worth a visit.聽 Most of the government officials will go to their homes for Christmas, and will leave the city to the locals.

-- Foz do Igua莽u, Paran谩, is a pretty safe city and the gateway to Igua莽u Falls, one of the wonders of the world.聽 It's also the point where Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay meet, so there are points of interest and good shopping.

-- Curitiba and Florian贸polis, the capitals of Paran谩 State and Santa Caterina State respectively, are relatively safe cities that are highly regarded for their standards of living.聽 Curitiba is inland; Florian贸polis is on an island just off the coast, connected by two bridges.聽 December is early Summer in both.
