It's not surprising that the Foreign Ministry has figured out how to handle it first.Ìý That won't be much help to people already in Brazil, but it's a start.

When do you get to Brazil,Ìý and in what city?Ìý Now that someone actually has the visa, the Polícia Federal will need to figure out how to issue an Authorization of Residency and a CRNM to you.Ìý ÌýPlease let us know how that process works once you get here.

Check the visa, and any other documents that the Consulate gave you.Ìý

Some countries - notably China - specify not only an expiration date, but a "must enter by" date, and if the traveler hasn't entered the country by that date, the visa is canceled, even if it's recent.Ìý I've never seen that on a Brazilian visa and doubt that it's on yours, but double-check just to be sure.

Once you DO enter the country for the first time on any resident visa you need to register with the Federal Police and request your CRNM, and you should plan on doing that within your first few days after arrival - don't put it off.Ìý Get your documents translated by a Sworn Translator and get in there.Ìý But only make your first visit to Brazil on your new visa when you know that you'll have 30-60 days to complete the process.Ìý ÌýIt's probably possible to enter, leave, and re-enter on your visa before you register, but it could complicate your life in ways you don't need.Ìý Once you're registered and have the protocolo from the FP you should be able to come and go if you really need to, even if your card hasn't arrived yet.

When you arrive, go directly to the Federal Police office, show them your visa, and ask them how to proceed.Ìý You're already in the system and vetted, so you shouldn't need to approach them through the online scheduling system unless for some reason they tell you to.

It's probably being issued as a VITEM XIV.Ìý That's the catchall category defined as "Temporary Visa for Immigration Policy".Ìý ÌýThe Houston Consulate website shows VITEM XIV as the Retirement Visa, because the number is being used for that, too.Ìý

But if you go to the Houston Consulate, show them the regulation, and have the supporting documentation, you'll probably come back to Brazil with a VITEM XIV.

I have not yet. I was at Policia Federal and got an extension on my tourist visa and even asked them about it but they didn't know anything. Honestly, even though the resolution calls for it to be allowed within Brasil, I don't think they actually have anything set up yet. None of what is in the Migrante Web 2 appears to even remotely qualify as something to submit this information. I looked at every option.

I've even tried emailing the e-mail they have listed (related to web issues and submitting required documents) and no luck.

I was thinking of trying to reach out to my consulate and see if they have any insight.

I just got an extension at Policia Federal in Curitiba, if that is what you are needing.Ìý It was an ok process, I guess. I showed up at Policia Federal. Staff took my passport did some checking and came back and told me how many days she could extend it.Ìý Then had us go to a website on our phone (I don't have that at the moment) pay a fee.Ìý SAVE the confirmation page. Then required us to print the confirmation.Ìý There is a LAN house about 10 minutes away.Ìý Then we returned and she stamped it with the new date.

With this digital nomad visa, that allows for multiple entries.looks like you have to register with policia federal within 90 days of arrival. Does anyone know if there are any issues with leaving the country before you register with federal police? Even if it is still within 90 days? I havent register yet and im still within the 90 day period but have to go back home to attend to family matters. Will they not allow me on the flight until i register or will the worst case scenario be, i get the visa revoked and have to apply agin?

The assumption alwaysÌýis that a visaholder will register with the Federal Police ASAP after his/her first arrival.Ìý If for some reason you haven't been able to get an appointment and need to leave the country, you should go to the PF office and explain your situation.Ìý They will probably either register you on the spot and give you the protocolo that will let you leave and return for your CRNM, or give you other guidance to maintain your status.
