@JulievdMerwe we live in Caaguazu, Paraguay and have been in Paraguay since September 2018. We lived in various parts of the country, from as far north as the Chaco to the south right on the banks of the Parana river, in Coratei. I also lived here in Caaguazu during 1994/5. The $5000 is no longer needed, and you certainly don't need a lawyer to do you residence application process.

Anybody needing information on Paraguay is welcome to contact us. We are not "immigration agents" and we certainly do not plan on making money off of any expats.

Hello Johan,

I have a question. I live in Ecuador, but i am curious to know whether the renters of apartments or houses in Asunci贸n typically have their electric or water bills in their own names instead of the landlord-owner's name? I ask this question, because often times U.S. financial institutions ask for proof of residency, which often means an electric or water bill that has the renter's name on it.

@Mr. Barley we've never had a utility bill in our own name in Paraguay. I did not see this as a problem, so I have no idea whether it is possible or customary.

@Johan Smal, I'm an Afrikaner who grew up in America and I am being trained to teach English. Is there an Afrikaans community or school in Paraguay where I could teach English? Thank you.
