My expat journey

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
The Arab Culture :-)
It's hard for women to get around the place... There were times that I wanna go to the beach or to the mall, but I couldn't because I had no available drivers to take me there (and also to drive me home).
It was always impossible to go to a place alone... I had to be with somebody, or with a group for safety purposes.
It's dangerous to take a cab alone. So me and my friends would always arrange our work schedules so we would have our time offs together.

I love the convenience of the LRT/MRT that could take me around Manila, from north to south. However, it is always jam-packed especially in the morning and in the evening. Nevertheless, I don't really mind being in a can of sardines, just like most people in Manila. It saves us a lot of time and money.
I also like the freedom and privilege of being able to go where I want go... and I can even go out solo ;-)
Manila is a very harsh urban jungle. The terribly heavy traffic exhausts me (that's why I take the LRT/MRT)... air pollution is horrible. The place is dirty. Crime rate is high and Manila is overly populated.

Bacolod City, Philippines
Student, Nurse
Peaceful, clean & green, and very livable. Bacolod City is an ideal place to raise a family. It may not be a big city but it has everything... reputable universities, nice shopping malls, resorts, gym, posh bars and restaurants, parks, etc.
Its a small place and everybody knows everybody. People don't really mind their own business most of the time, lol! ;D

People seem shocked that I haven't suffered 'culture shock.' Maybe it's because I'd been off-handedly gathering info on life in the Middle East for several years (I'm very interested in traveling, geography and the world at large ;) ) Also, I ... Read More

What's MY idea of the Kingdom? It's a place that I work because the job is stable and the salary is acceptable. It is NOT a place I would choose to live, bring a family or plan a future. But that's just me. When I finish my work here I will work ... Read More
