About

I work as an electronic/electrical technician for the state of Washington on our roadways. I would love to connect with as many expats who have lived abroad so I may see what areas I would like to choose to eventually retire in. I am a very personable type and am eager to try and please anyone would call me friend. I am very easygoing and don't wish to live in places where politics and governments try to rule everything as they are trying to do here in the U.S. Don't get me wrong, I love my country and have served in our U.S. Navy for eight years. I think the U.S. is a great place, I just don't think my retirement income will handle anywhere here in the U.S. and still allow me freedoms only money can buy. That said, I am seriously taking a look at Panama and any other country where disasters, both natural and man-made are rare, and where medical is up to date and easy to get to and afford. I can live in the country or in a city, I only know English but am willing to learn any language. My background is mostly blue-collar, I can weld, work on engines, drive just about anything, and can usually figure electronic problems out. I am going to Panama sometime next fall to check it out myself and hopefully see some of you from the forum over there. I have a girlfriend of over 20 years now and wish her to come with me. I can actually see myself on a farm with all kinds of animals and raising a huge garden. What I really want is to find decent roadways to travel on motorcycle, live somewhere in the country, preferably on or next to saltwater so I can take up sailing and fishing, and many, many friends to help me and themselves to explore new places together, and just have fun with.
Interests: photography, motorcycling, sailing, sports, , women, fishing, hang-gliding

U.S. Navy moved me to Naval Station Whidbey Island from Hawaii. I spent three years working on aircraft for the U.S. Navy and when I got out in 1990 I went to work as a welder in Napa Valley California. I didn't care for California as it is too crowded, so I started driving tractor-trailer across country and after awhile I got a job just driving up and down the West Coast of the U.S., basically from Vancouver British-Columbia to Los Angeles California and was home every week. After awhile I was eventually hired on with the state of Washington as an electronics/electrical technician. That is where I am currently at and, actually, yesterday was my ten year mark with them. I plan on leaving when I hit year 20, or ten years from now.

It is so green here with tall trees and mountains, and every sport you could wish to do here all within a 90 minute drive or less!!!
Taxes, regulations, prices just to live here and more government regulations every year.

I was in Ecuador for 2 months earlier this year. Lots of bikes but you will not see too many HD's. As a former Kaw man, I did take notice of the bikes on hand in Ecuador. They are typically of the 150 to 250 cc type, Chinese made I believe. If you ... Read More

Well, I started riding when I was 12 years old. My first official bike was a '57 Indian Cheif and I was 15 years old. Course, it was illegal for me to ride anything over 50 CC's at the time, but what the heck are laws made for? ( that's right,to ... Read More

Kurt, I saw 1 H-D when I was in Cuenca last June. I saw a Road Glide for sale on one of the sites, and it was pretty outrageously priced. There are a lot of Royal Enfields, and alot of RE shops for sales and service. ( reasonably priced ) You can ... Read More
