Is it cheaper to buy a new WiMax set rather than monthly cards at 40LD by Palachakh

Please, what can you advise? My WiMax contract expired this July, so I recharge the account by buying a set of four cards at 10 LYD each. And this payment (40 LYD) is valid for one month starting the date of recharging, e.g. if I run out of the ...

KevShepherd

There has always been the 10LYD per 500mb surcharge. Somthing has changed though so to check this link out Wimax Prices as it now looks like they have dropped the prices dramatically. It used to be 400 one time charge (for 10 months) plus 120 for ... Read More

Cheapest way to run an Iphone in Libya (or at least use push e-mail) by KevShepherd

Hi all, After 3 months of ploughing money into Almadar for their GPRS service I've got to the point where I need to find a better solution. The LYD11 per 45 hours was ok at first. Did the usual things like disabling push e-mail etc. etc. but for ...

Hi. You'll need one of these Microsim adapter. With this device, you'll need to butcher your almadar or (better) libyana card to fit into the Iphone 4, then you can pop it into the adapter if you want to put it into a normal phone. All the other ... Read More

Anyone had their Wimax balance zapped when new portal was launched? by KevShepherd

Hi all, Just got back to Tripoli after a few weeks away and noticed that when I plugged in my Wimax router (after being off for 3 weeks), it no longer synchronises (flashing LED). Went to check the balance at the wimax customer portal here ...

KevShepherd

No, it doesn't synchronise. I'm guessing that the bytes 0 is the reason why. Previously I used to check my balance regularly to see how much the TV streaming from UK was using and this number was dynamically adjusted on the portal. I sent a message ... Read More

Obtaining a driving licence in Tripoli by Palachakh

It may sound crazy, but still: Does anyone know of a school where I could learn driving (in English) and subsequently obtain a driving license (preferably international)? Is it possible at all? Has anybody tried it?

KevShepherd

National and International driving licences are worthless in Libya, even with an Arabic translation.Hmmm Sandman, I think it's luck of the draw. I've had my UK International Driving Permit (拢5 from the UK postoffice) taken from me and checked ... Read More

FWIW, I've got both (one for the office and one for home), and the White Huawei Echolife has two major benefits over the Black Zyxel. 1. It has a wireless AP built in 2. It's smaller and easier to carry around. I think the signal strength is ... Read More
