I have just returned from Hurghada and I can tell you it was a relief to be away from the constant fear p*rn being drummed into our ears on a daily basis. The general consensus over there is that Egypt is Covid free, which I鈥檓 sure isn鈥檛 true, but hopefully it won鈥檛 get to a peak. I did see a lot of ambulances in Luxor, where there was a known outbreak at the start of the pandemic. Anyway, most bars and hotels do temperature checks upon arrival, and you are only required to wear a mask on public transport and in supermarkets, and there is hand gel available available in bigger chains. Beaches all have their own rules but none of the ones I went to required a mask.

There is a 12am curfew meaning bars and restaurants close at 12am, and Hurghada airport is offering Pcr tests on arrival, the authenticity of which I鈥檓 not certain. Overall, it鈥檚 a mixed bag, most don鈥檛 take it seriously but many do, with that said it鈥檚 not pumped in your ears 24/7, which coming from Covid island feels great.
