A work permit must be applied for by the expat's employer.

A KITAS is an immigration document that does NOT allow work without an IMTA work permit.

Sorry, what I meant here, my bf just quit from the US army. I think the hard one to get a job in Indonesia, that's because he was in army? We tried to apply to many company but none.

He tried to get work visa in US, but still waiting for the invitation. So I thought he can go to agency in Jakarta to get work visa immediately.

Do you have recommend of agency for that?

Unlikely the army has anything to do with anything.
More likely he's applying for jobs he's either not qualified for or there are Indonesians able to do that type of work.
Either will stop him getting a work permit.

No agency can do this legally as only an employer can apply for a work permit.
They have to prove they're unable to find an Indonesian capable of doing the work they want to hire him for so that limits the fields available to him.

If you were married that would leave him able to apply for a spouse sponsored KITAS but that does not allow work.

I'm really sorry, I still don't get it with this one.

Do you have suggestion what should we do? He plan to moving to Indonesia. This is new for us, and work here is one problem.

If you are married you can apply for wife sponsored Visa so your husband can live here for a long period of time but cannot legally work as it's not a work visa however he can then search for work and hopefully gain legal employment .

He needs to be able to do a job that an Indonesian can't do so that limits things to very specific job roles in sectors like oil and gas, education, sciences etc.

He could also join this forum and ask as well.

Luke is correct, you can't sponsor him for a KITAS unless you're married and he can't work legally unless he has a work permit.
The only way to get a work permit is if he can do a job an Indonesian is unavailable for.
That generally means degree educated people can find work in specialist jobs but that's a rule of thumb, not fixed.

Now the point is I can sponsor him to get visa for long stay IF we're married. And he must get a job who will sponsor him to secure legal working visa. I thought it would be easy 鈽癸笍鈽癸笍鈽癸笍

Spouse sponsored is generally easy but work not so.

An Indonesian can sponsor a foreigner for a SosBud 60 day visa that's extendable to 180 days.

Getting a job depends on his skill set - The system is set up to protect Indonesians so he can only do work that an Indonesian is unable to do, or unavailable for.

A common course of action is (if he is degree educated - seems flexible with many companies) is getting a TEFL certificate and working as a native speaker.
That should bring in a minimum of 11 million/month.
