Hi Folks...

I'm a recently retired, soon to be divorced man who, after 24 years in the British Army and another 20+ years in the IT and Space industry is looking to get out of my homeland, the formally great, Great Britain.

Initially, I plan to spend 1, 2 or 3 months in a number of different countries to get a 'feel' for where I might look to settle.  I have visited the Philippines a number of times whilst my Brother worked there during the 00's.  I'm looking to continue an active life in an area that provides a good night life, access to beaches and all major facilities whilst having the ability to 'get away from it all' just around the corner - If that makes sense.

Happy for any advice or information.

It makes a lot of sense.

I don't know the Philippines, but you might like to try a long holiday in Malaysia.  Bali isn't my cup of tea, but it might suit you.
