Medical Checkup

Hello!聽 I am from America.聽 I just turned 53 years old.聽 I am currently exploring countries that offer really good full medical checkups.聽 Thailand and Malaysia are both possible locations - but I am also considering Vietnam.聽 I was just wondering if anyone has done this through Vietnam or any other country and what the experience was like.聽 In Vietnam - it seems like it would be around 800 USD but that includes blood work, ekg, etc.聽 For me to do the same level of checkup in the US would cost thousands of dollars.

You don't say that you are *located* currently in the USA. If you are, do you not have health insurance? If that is the case, then I understand why you are inquiring about what's come to be called "medical tourism."

India has or had recently at least, a medical tourism visa because so many westerners were going there for medical procedures done by American- or European-trained Indian doctors. Fair enough. A surgical procedure costing in the tens of thousands of US dollars can be had in India for less than $6,000, in the experience of one of my blood relatives.

I have Medicare and they push me to have a yearly check-up with blood work. It costs me next to nothing, but in the scheme of things USA, Medicare is pretty good.

Thailand is also known for medical tourism. I'd say that Vietnam is not as well known for that, but is coming up in that regard.

People on this forum will know better than I what the Vietnam options are. A recent thread here on dental implant work being done after searching for the cheapest option had some revealing considerations to mind.

Good luck!

I have insurance.聽 While the insurance will cover a basic doctor visit and blood work - other countries seem to do a lot more checks for a fraction of the cost.聽
