I submitted for brusssels region. They proceed with work perk extremely quickly.

Unlimited work permit.

Applied on 2nd January 2026.

Work part Brusssels region..10th January 2026

Residence part 10th April 2026. is today.

Validity is 10april 2027.

My original A card was valid till 2028 January.

Unlimited residency reduces it to april 2027. I knew it happens.

guys, after getting your residency/single permit/annex 46, the next step would be to apply for Visa D right ? How long is it taking ? I applied for Visa D from abroad for me and my family. I already have residency/single permit/annex 46. Now im waiting for the Visa D to be issued from the Immigration Office in Belgium. The status says In Treatment. Any idea how long does this process take ?

@Kackarli

Hey everyone,

Is there anyone applying for Brussels, first-time single permit, who got their work permit in January and has already received their residence permit recently?

I got my work permit on January 20 and I’m still waiting, just trying to see if things are moving or if others are in the same situation.

Thanks!

@LavenderTiger hi, my work permit was approved on Feb 2 (first timer in Brussels) and I’m also still waiting. I hope we both hear soon!

Hey everyone,

Is the expected start date on the work permit taken into account during the residence permit approval process, or is it independent?

Thanks!

@BKD_BKD

Hi, it’s independent, they just treat each file by order of priority in the sense whatever comes first gets an answer first unless there’s something blocking.

@zayneb166

thank you!

@zayneb166

did you receive feedback ?

@mustafajamil4856

You need to book an appointment with your commune where you’re resident and do the process for annex 49.

How to open this account, I need to pay I register online only?

@JERALDSON AALA

for first time applicants, your employer can track. For renewal cases in Belgium, you must have eid / registered to itsme.

@User_0409

Haven you got any feedback ?

@mdaliatbe

OK thank you!

Any news from anybody doing a renewal ??

Hello,

I am currently holding a valid single permit till 2028 ... My company recently applied for Eu blue card as well for which I got the positive work decision today.

Now the question is .. Can i travel (outside EU) for 2-3 weeks while my application is in process while I hold a valid resident card? And what if a decision is made while I am abroad?

Your Single Permit is valid for re-entry into the EU until the last day mentioned on the card. Applying for a new status does not void your current card.

In some regions, you may request a Fiktionsbescheinigung (temporary certificate) to provide explicit legal proof of your status while waiting for the physical Blue Card.

Some update

For a renewal of single permit for researcher with hosting agreement in Brussels.

So already residing in Belgium.

Application date : 18 March 2026

Work permit : 31 march

Single permit : 20 April

I know the track is faster for researchers due to some EU legislations
