Nowadays not very long, when we moved our replacements took about three weeks, not like when they were first issued when it took months.

Actually, there is a set time.

On the contrary, those 鈥榚-Residence Card鈥 applicants who are aware of the regulations in the first instance are better placed to obtain their 鈥榚-Residence Cards鈥 more swiftly than those who are not.
GozoMo wrote:You can quote your normal rules as many times as you like but not every department over here will take any notice.
You鈥檇 be surprised by how many that do.
For instance, many will recall the arduous practical consequences for Gozo-based non-Maltese EU 鈥榚-Residence Card鈥 applicants before the Victoria/Gozo 鈥榚-Residence Card鈥 office was eventually opened in December, 2013: a 5 hour round trip each and every time they were required to personally attend the Department of Citizenship and Expatriate Affairs in Valletta / Malta - laden with all manner of personal documentation.

It is not 'wholly relevant' as with most of your posts, which are cut and paste from EU legislation, this is factually correct but irrellevent when looked at in the context of the way things work in Malta & Gozo!

Response: Incorrect.
Members of this forum are perfectly entitled to be aware of the law and its relevance.
In the first instance, because ignorance of the law is no defense and secondly, because knowledge of it better enables forum members to successfully negotiate solutions to issues such as this one.

When will you actually post from your own experience of Malta and not just copy EU legislation parrot fashion.
You can quote as much as you like and, yes people are entitled to know what the law is, but this forum is meant to be useful and practical.
Cut and paste of EU legislation is pointless in Malta.
Many just want to get things sorted which matter to them, in real terms, and are not looking to start getting involved with legislation against the Maltese establishment.
You really do need to look at giving advice from real life IN MALTA!

Though passionate and doubtless, sincere, your view that 鈥淐ut and paste of EU legislation is pointless in Malta鈥 is irrelevant for the simple reason that Malta is an EU Member State.
Because this forum is meant to be useful and practical, its members are perfectly entitled to be aware of the law - as opposed to mere personal opinion.
In the first instance, because ignorance of the law is no defense and secondly, because knowledge of it better enables forum members to make informed decisions and successfully negotiate solutions to issues such as this one.
EU Legislation may say that residence documentation should be issued immediately,
' A registration certificate [鈥榚-Residence Card鈥橾 shall be issued immediately鈥︹..鈥
but in real and practical terms the eResidence card can't be as it has to be manufactured, so a receipt which acts as temporary documentation is issued immediately.
