Cost of living

Lemmon

Hello,
I am thinking of moving to Malta. The job I am considering moving for pays 16,000 euro a year. Would this be enough to live relatively comfortably in Malta?
Thank you

depends on your definition of comfort

Lemmon

Well, comfort would be being able to afford a nice one bed apartment and the ability to buy food, pay bills and healthcare, travel costs etc without worrying if you'd have enough to make it to the end of the month!

Hi Lemmon,

Welcome to the forum.

If the 16.000 is before tax and NI then it might not be that comfortable but, as already said, lifestyle is a very personal thing.

It's certainly manageable. Its higher than the average wage out here and as long as you're not expecting to live in a palace then you should be fine.

I have a friend who lives on her own, she earns 16.5k a year, rents a lovely one bedroom flat in Sliema for 330 a month and gets by just fine. Not 'well off' of course, but it's certainly a manageable wage :) good luck!

well I think you should definitely be fine then! :)

Thats great news, it's tough trying to gauge the cost of living when Ireland is so notoriously expensive (one bed apartment 650 a month here). Thanks a million for the info.
