It doesn't hurt to call, but my experience is that in the USA when they say 6 months it means "Up to six months, but probably sooner." In Rom芒nia my immigration聽 experience is "We said six months and we mean it." But, again, it won't hurt to call.

Trust me nobody will call you, you have to create a profile in that site i have done the same and i have an appointment on Thursday in the immigration office, you will get your answer from that portal

In my experience, (quite a while ago)....the 6 months was 6 months, like to the day.聽 IGI were quite particular about it.聽 Also, it can be extended by 90 days if there are processing delays.聽

I would not expect it to be ready sooner.

Should I receive a response letter via post or everything is communicated through the local general inspectorate in my area?
