We used ASISA who are good, and fairly inexpensive, However, are there are many options. Including Adeslas, Aegon, AXA, Cigna, Divina, DKV, FIATC, Generali, Mapfre, Sanitas.

You can also use a comparison site (Rastreator, Acierto) to view a bunch of options for health insurance (seguros de salud), with price/company. Most of the companies have their own websites where you can order direct, or you can pop in to a local insurance broker if you're in Spain.

You don't have to get a Spanish policy, but it's usually the easiest option. If you buy elsewhere, then you'd need to organize a certified Spanish translation (if the certificate/policy is not in Spanish). Also, for visa or residence (EU Citizen Registration) purposes, your policy should have zero copago (deductible).

In my quest for a life in Spain, being over 70, I am entitled to UK Nation Health Service S1, which means the NHS will pay for the cost of your medical needs when living in Spain, which is accepted when applying for an NLV.

My problem is that they will issue an S1 for me, but I must provide a SPANISH ADDRESS on the application form.

Recommendations, please, on how to get a Spanish address while I am still living in the UK

You're going to need a proper Spanish address (and Padron certificate) at some point in the application process for NLV and TIE. So I'd suggest you simply wait to ask for your S1 until you have this sorted.

The S1 application is very quick (a phone call), so there's no downside to this being one of your last tasks (it was for me when I got my dad's sorted earlier this year). They ask for your move date and address, but I doubt it much matters. They will send you an electronic version (PDF) by email, pretty much immediately... and I think you can specify whether the paper version goes to the new Spanish address, or your UK address.

But, yes, an S1 is very handy, and should be accepted for your NLV. Congrats! Not sure, but I'd guess you might need a certified translation of it.

While you're in the UK, grab a GHIC too, if you don't already have one.
