Entry stamp 90-day extension - online?

ChipW

I'm sure I filled in an online form some years ago to receive a 90-extension for my entry stamp, but now I'm not seeing any such thing. Does it still exist?

26 views and nobody knows anything about an online way to get an entry extension? I contacted a guy at migraciones and his response was:

Hola buenos días eso ya no tienes que acercarte a las oficinas lo haces en línea en la página de inmigración donde dice prórroga o permiso para prorrogar algo así se llama y listo ahí mismo en línea lo pagas no tienes que ir a ninguna sede.

Good morning. You no longer need to go to the offices; you can do it online on the immigration website where it says "extension" or "permit to extend," something like that. And that's it, you pay it right there online; you don't have to go to any office.

So, I checked both the migraciones site and the cancilleria site and neither appear to have anything related to prórroga.

Why 26 views and no reply's you ask, probably because this is an EXPAT forum and NOT a tourist visitor help center.

Us EXPATS have visas/cedulas and some deep roots in Colombia and as such 90 day tourist questions/concerns are not as much as a blimp on our radar.

So too is that the immigration rules change often so unless a person has recent and direct knowledge of getting a tourist extension then best to check elsewhere.

Question - Which city are you located in?

You can go here:

You fill out the FUT (Formulario Único de Trámites) all on-line.  It IS avaliable in English, it didn't work before for me on my phone! Probably pilot error...

There's a box to check in the upper right corner for English.

For more explanations in both languages do a search for

or

...and you'll get lots of hits.

@South American Voyager

so judgemental - I've been living in South America for 12+ years, 7 countries, 300+ towns/cities - many of which I've spent time in on multiple occasions. How long have you been in SA? Oh, I see your profile shows expat since 2022. hahahaha, who do you think you are? Some kind of super-expat?

ChipW

@OsageArcher

Thank you, much appreciated.

Seems like I waste a lot of time trying to help.people on this site.

You can bring a horse to water...

And yes Jason thinks he is " Super Expat"

Almost 7 feet tall, blonda hair and blue eyes, all he needs is the cape, and the vest and shiied with SE emblazed on it.

Also they may accept your FUT give you a CUT But not accept your payment electronically

This has happened to me in the past as well.

You will then have to go to the bank stated on the approval form to.pay manually.

Also dont be concerned of they give you an old passport number On the final approved PTP.

Thats how they work.With original passport no that you got your first visa.

After you pay, they should give you the extension in 3 days.

If not, go down to local migraciones office.

Ther is mo category for PTP for a cita, so use both PTP and Salvoconducto in case the security guard in the migration office gets picky

Also, plan cita well ahead assuming things screw up, yu can cancel if things are OK

This is espéscially important around this time as they are not exactly working at full capacity.

Like  said in the other thread, plan 3 weeks   ahead Because of all the potential screw ups along the way.

Read the other thread for more details, espescially if you had a visa for any period  during  2025.

To be honest, I kinda agree with Jason Chip.

For someone who supposedly has been here for years you seem.not that capable of navigating the Migracion and Cancilleria site in either language, seems kind of " newbyish" to me.

ChipW

@nico peligro

My word, the people in this forum are so incredibly judgemental - yes I saw that message and there is no mention of where a person can find the form for the extension. Maybe you should take another look at it.

ChipW

@nico peligro

Whoever "Jason" is hasn't posted in this thread. Are you referring to a different thread?

ChipW

So, to provide the info that is not available anywhere on expat.com - the webpage to apply for an extension is:

The form is easy, all the fields are required to be filled even though not all have an asterisk indicating such requirements. And, there is no fee collected during this process. At the end, it gives you a registraion number, and says you will be contacted by email only.

If you need to change it to English, there is an option for that, only some of the page's text changes, the menu options (the important stuff) is not translated. Look for the word - prorrogar

@ChipW

Cant believe you went on the site and couldnt find the link Osage sent .

He found it right away and he hasnt lived here for years and never recently has had to go through the process to get a cedula, Salvoconducto, PTP or whatever

nico peligro

@ChipW

Yes there is a fee.

You havent got to that stage yet.

You are only on step 1 of 3.

Read my message above.

You will get your email on monday either approving or disapproving.

The next step is to pay.

If the payment link works, It will go through right away.

If not  you will have to their bank to pay it " Banco del agrario" or something similar .

After payment you will get the PTP within 3 business days.

nico peligro

@ChipW

Sorry , he uses a different handle on other sites ( like I do)

I meant SA Explorer, as you know him.

nico peligro

And if you had a visa earier in 2025 and didnt attach it ( or maybe even if you did) 90% chance you will be rejected and have to go down to the local Migraciones office to sort things out.

Hope you have lots of time before your tourist stamp runs out, because  like I said, citas are hard to cmeby this tome of   year.

Good luck.

Keep us informed.

nico peligro

Go to the Expat Group site they have a free detailed free step by step guide to the process.

What they dont tell you is how to resolve the issue of the system screws up along the way, like I try to do.

So, I left CO and am now in EC. The Migraciones did not give me an extension, in fact, they have not sent me any message at all since I submitted the online form. My friend in Migractiones contacted the Bogota office, and received a message from them - there are only 2 people working there during the holidays so they cannot get to all the work. Period, Sorry Charlie. My last legal day was the 31st Dec. I saw a message in one of the expat forums that said the EC migraciones reset your days on Jan 1. <- Not correct. They don't. I had entered EC 3 times in 2025 starting in March. So, when I entered on Jan 1 (yes 1 day late leaving CO but they didn't care when they gave me the exit stamp), the EC migraciones gave me only 28 days and said I will received 90 days from March onward. That sucks. Now I have to change my plans for a barely 1-month visit with friends in a couple of towns. Oh well. So it goes. After EC, it's back to Peru.
