Resident Visa Proof of income requirement
I have a bank account in the US but the Visa Agency tells me it is not enough to show bank accounts you need to certify the funds in the account with apostilled documents and letters that is very difficult for me to do since the company I worked for closed in 2018 reason also I cannot open bank account here in Colombia. I was going to use my Colombia wife`s rental agreement as income requirement a lot easier but she has issues with the property documents when it was built many years ago and it cannot be legalized now, in her name so I am forced to reapply for a Marriage visa. which is only 3 years compared to 5 years for the R Visa.
Thanks

As if what you present is not complex enough, I glean from other postings of yours that you are Portuguese .. and your "income" is derived from retirement-account distributions.
Such distributions may not be considered actual income, just a conversion of a personal asset into another asset class.
Have you or your visa agency determined whether Colombia considers IRA distributions to be proof of reliable income?聽 Do you have a history of receiving IRA distributions on a monthly basis that would meet the Colombia income standard for an extended-term visa?
----
By the way, your wife's rental agreement has nothing to do with any valid effort to prove income of your own.聽 Let us know if you have reason to dispute this assertion.
Based on what you posted on this thread, your best bet may be reapplying for a three-year marriage visa.聽 That is because it may be easier to prove your marriage to a Colombiana than to prove that you have qualifying income for the longer visa.

Yes the Visa agency told me for an R-Visa it was easier for me using my wife`s income and me as a beneficiary of hers of course on EPS insurance I would have to appear as a beneficiary as well that is still being disputed, if I`m going to apply for an R-Visa or not due to the fact that I have not talked to expatgroup in Medellin on a recent new suggestion that my wife told me that is to use her rental agreement in conjunction with a compra y venta document.
I don`t know as of yet if they: meaning Ministerio in Bogota considers that a legal document for ownership of property.
I have to run that by the agency to see if we can use that..... if not then yes I will be reapplying for an M-1 visa again.
Also I have a tax examination with a Tax Accountant in Medellin next week to determine my taxes for 2020 and yes IRA distributions are considered income in USA so I will find out next week the scope. and will post the outcome.

Although I know a guy who does it -actually has Colombian citizenship but probably spends less thn 3 months here in a year.
But he is so loaded and doesnt have any kids i his 60s, so it would hardly be any skin off his back if he lost all his real estate holdings in Colombia.
Easy come, easy go
I actually know of several cases were girl is either a full on prostitute or has a foreign boyfriend or fiance she only sees a few months a year聽 and she is cheating on him with local men.
This is 100% truth, and I am not trolling,I am only saying this so guys like Mathias and any others know what they are getting into. If they dont care, thats okay as long as they know.
When having a relation with a foreign women it is important that you spend quality time together to get to know each othe well before becoming engaged or married.
If you want to get married聽 to get a Visa, fine, but know how to protect yourself financially and emotionally.
Measure twice, cut once.
Anyone who gets into a quality relationship with marriage as the end goal, is in essence also marrying their family, too.聽 So you need to get to know her/him, and all of her family, and her cousins, nephews and nieces and aunts and uncles too.聽 It is worth it for the right one.聽 For the wrong one it can be a disaster.

I fix it tomorrow
I am confused as to whether he has a girlfirend or is only looking for one,.
And if she is a Venezuelan, it will be difficult to get her in the country now, and wont do any good for a marriage Visa...she wont even get a Cedula Extranjeria..they have special Visas and IDs for legalVenezuelanos, but the border is pretty tight now, although people travel back and forth.
And I wouldnt visit Venezuela now, let alone live there.
Also dont know why he wants an M-1 visa if he wants to stay 180 days a year.
His post is all over the map
As far as working as a systems analyst remotely y Internet, that is a good attribute to have, where ever he chooses to live.
And they are probably almost as high as Swedens
Of course, working online internationally, there is no way DIAN would find out..unless you told them---
I agree with CCC聽 that wifes income would be irrelevant for Hutch getting an M-1 or R visa.
And even if it was, the requirement for proof of income for a Rentista Visa (income from a non-government Pension) is around 11 Salarios Minimos last time I heard- or around 11 million pesos per month.
They changed all the R Visas another dozen or so types a few years ago to an "M" Visa-good for 3 or 5 years
I used to have an R "Rentista" Visa, renewanble every year, but now it is a 3 years ""M" - Migrant Visa coming due Next April.
But despite the name change聽 and duration change聽 from 1 year to 3 or 5 years there are still the same subcategories requiring same documentation and requirements.
A "Rentista" requires proof of income of 11 salarios m铆nimos from any source
A "pensionada" requires 3 salarios m铆nimos (I believe someone can correct me) proof of income from a government or certifiable corporate pension
A Marriage visa does not require any proof of income. Marrying a Colombiana and living in her country is a universal human right.
People that have聽 a marriage visa (I know some of you are on this forum) can聽 聽confirm聽 this or聽 correct me on this.
If your wife is Colombian, than you can get a marriage visa. That is the easiest.
If you dont get any responses from anyone who has recently got a marriage visa, I can direct you to another site which is a lot more active, and people will answer your question for sure.
Dont always rely on word of mouth of local Migraciones agents, as they can be mistaken quite often.
As an example, on another site, a Migraciones agent in Medllin office told a guy he didnt need a PCR test to enter Colombia if he was a resident, or if you are a citizen. This is total BS and illogical.
I am hearing after COVID things are getting harder and requiring more redundant documentation, but I think the basic requirements have stayed the same.
If you wernt"Married" I would say wait until next year as things are still in a聽 state of porqueria due to COVID
Maybe by then the fatality rate (which is declining) will be so low they will finally admit it is no worse than the flu
