Again I would approach the Notary first and establish exactly what is needed,

wealth and income are two different things. You dont declare wealth on taxes but alot can be inferred such as income from investments, depreciation, gross and net numbers ete.聽 There was a tv ruckus about a South African or European who married his hottie, and he told her he was wealthy. The next week she found out he was not and made a spectacle of him and I believe the CO gov tried to get him in trouble. You must know, that greed is international聽 but Colombia has more greed than most places I have seen and lots of envy. That is why they will probably elect a communist president even though they cry about what Venezuela is doing to them....The ladies seem to have a hard time separating the man from the money and that is too bad.

Greap post with lots of advice. I am planning on the big M and have been divorced, but consider myself single. I was thinking about getting the co-habitate visa on line which looks very easy now....just need form from Notary and she applies online for you. she has to ask for the VISA.

You mentioned getting hitched in USA.....do you do that on the application for VISA for Colombiana en USA? the MAtrimnio VISA??? and then she has permission to come for 3-6 months and you do the duty and she gets to stay? that is ideal, but how would we get Colombian VISA afterwrds? Still need all the paperwork to give Notary? or is USA marriage enough for Colombian VISA聽 paperwork?

Yeah, that's right, but only when the gold-digging women are dirt poor, have no professional job, have no money of their own,聽 and have zero prospects for a better life.

In any case, it's partly the fault of all the men, or most men,聽 who want a woman who looks like a flawless super model or Miss Universe with a perfect body, and a perfect face, and no hidden gold-digging聽 agendas.....keep dreaming, guys !!!

Rich women marry rich men from their own social circle. Every dirt poor woman's dream is to marry a rich handsome prince of a guy who will cart them off on a white horse to live in a castle happily ever after. Yeah, let's get real here, women want security (defined as money) and the nice big house with the white picket fence and 4-10 kids and a bunch of credit cards so they can go shopping till they drop & lunching with their girl friends all the time.....hahaha. Women know how to play the game, they learn that fact of life early in their life. And Colombian women & Brazilian women play the game better than anyone else. Who can blame them ?

Better to rent the cow than buy it and you can change your cow every few months when you feel the milk is getting sour.

Why this compulsive obsession with Marriage foreigners who come to Colombia have? Colombians dont feel the same way about the "institution".

I will say one thing though, Marrying someone in Colombia and living here is way smarter than some bone heads who meet a girl on the internet, make a few trips here, and then marry her and drag her ass back to Canada, US , UK or wherever.

And expecting things to turn out "OK"

Sounds like you are talking about American women, not Colombian women. American women are a lot more focused on their professional careers now. travel, having fun, etc.,聽 and don't even think about getting ,married & having kids until they're about age 30-35, which just before their biological clock runs out at around age35-40.....lol

not all Colombian women do that....especially the wealthy ones, and especially Colombian women with professional careers (examples - doctors, nurses, plastic surgeons, dentists, lawyers, engineers, accountants, and real estate managers)

From what I have seen personally on the ground in Medellin, Colombia, most gringos/foreigners who go to Medellin, Colombia for 1-2 weeks holidays just want to "play" with the women there and have lots of fun and then they just聽 jump on the plane and fly away back to the US/Canada/Europe/South America. Most wealthy & professional women don't even date gringos/foreigners because they simply don't have to

probably the divorce rate in US/Canada is 50% overall on average, but more like 75% between the younger ages of 18-30. Those are not very good odds for getting married in the US/Canada. You might have better luck in a casino in Las Vegas....hahaha

Hell, why even get married at all...just live with the woman...that's what most of the (poor) Colombian guys do...and if the women give them a hard time, they just pack their suitcase & leave them high & dry after they have had 2-3 kids together.....lol.....fact of life in Medellin, Colombia....99% of the Colombian guys there cheat on their wives & girl friends.....probably because there are around
6-8 single available Colombian women for every guy there in Medellin...maybe, that's why all the single & divorced gringos/foreigners are going there and wanting to move there.....most American women wouldn't give the balding, overweight, stupid slob of a guy the time of day .....8 stunningly beautiful single women there for every guy is a virtual bachelor's paradise ...if you can't find a woman in Medellin, you might as well just forget about it and throw in the towel.....hahaha

yeah man, most Colombian guys, 90% of them,聽 wouldn't even think about getting married...besides, most of them are just as poor as the women......which is maybe why so many dirt poor Colombian women are looking to meet rich gringos聽 and they define rich as any gringo with more than $ 1,000 +

A note to everybody. Now listen up.

Why even bother getting married at all in the USA or Colombia ? Just live together for 10-25 years first to see if you are compatible.....marriage is going the way of the do-do bird.

And what's the deal with all these people complaining and whining all the time about Colombia聽
- the air, the weather, too cold, too hot, low wages, hard to find work, blah, blah, blah?
... If they don't like it, then why on earth don't they just simply move somewhere else. Colombia is not America.

Don't go to Colombia expecting everybody to speak English and listen to all your whining & complaining about this & that....they really don't care whether you like it or not...really.....it is what it is....get used to it...and while you're at it, get a life, and stop the incessant complaining....it's annoying....lol

Loaferin..if you count "Union Libres",聽 I bet the Colombian divorce rate is 90%. Most Colombians don[t get married.

Colombians have the highest rate of single mothers of anywhere in the world.

Funny these girls make a mistake, pick the wrong guy , don篓t protect themselves, and get pregnant,. The loser Colombian leaves her sola with the kid.

Then some schmuck gringo or other foreigner comes along and marries them and pays for her and the loser barrio boy麓s mistake.

Maybe while he is out of聽 the country she is screwig him still , or some other barrio boy.

But still the extranjeros keep marrying these girls-sometimes even when they have 2 or 3 kids from different guys.

Isnt it is better to wait until you find the right one,or that doesn麓t happen, just don篓t get married and have fun, go with the flow?

I went to a private party at a boutique hotel in El Poblado in June-2010,聽 and met around 250 girls in only 4 hours and had lined up聽 20 girls and telephone #'s and dates with them in 3 hours time...too many girls, so little lime....I could not handle all of them...too much, man.....but I sure had a good time....and I didn't even speak Spanish,. just a few simple words & phrases

no sir, it's all true, i know that for a fact, i was there 5 times in Medellin.....girls were literally throwing their cellular #'s at me ...i went to one private party where there were 250 girls and only 23 guys...that is a ratio of over 10 women for every guy according to my rough calculations and they were not all poor girls from the barrios either...50% of them were professionals...doctors, nurses, dentists, lawyers, engineers, fashion designers, corporate business executives, travel agents, real estate professionals, etc........most of the local girls hate the Colombian guys because they all cheat on them, or maybe just most of them, and in any case, most of the girls do not even want to move to America either...why would they, when they live in such a beautiful, warm, happy country

They're not there because of your sterling winsome personality or your movie-star good looks or your witty conversation in your stumbling Spanish, believe me.聽 They are not naturally attracted to aging foreign men with a big barriga and a face full of arrugas.聽 Or you can choose not to believe me and keep your eyes closed...but fooling yourself does not end up well.

Not all Colombian women would go to such a "private party" - many of them have higher standards and morality.聽 Not to say you wouldn't find some gems among the dross - but without speaking the language fluently and understanding the culture, you're more likely to be buying fool's gold than the real thing.聽 And paying dearly for it, one way or another.
