The girlfriend I have now was cheated on. She had been single for 5 years until I showed up. I asked her why would she be interested in a foreigner from the other side of the planet? They are very demanding and often follow the money trail , they also feel empowered and like to be in control. There will be a lot of influence from her family and friends , if you can not keep up with demands they will find someone who can. It is hard to find a good one who is content with the stability of a relationship especially if there is a considerable age gap. If you have poor health they will stick around .....waiting for a payout from a will.They like to be flash and reckless with money and will generously donate your cash to family and friends. They crave financial security ...at any cost.聽

Hey Paul, in a non believing society where most people do not know God鈥� anything goes (futility). In Budhism, morality and worship are seperate. A prostitute can pray to a spirit house, then go do her 鈥渢ricks.鈥� This is OK in the Thai mentality. As for Thai men, it鈥檚 common to have a 鈥漨ia 喙�喔∴傅喔⑩�� (concubine or another lady). The women don鈥檛 like it, but as long as they are being cared for, they simply turn a blind eye to it. To non-believing Thais, this is why in dating they want things up front. They know they will be cheated on. Undertandibg this history and way of life helps聽

As I often say, how can a man who is normal be satisfied with only one lady ?

May be I would think differently if I was ugly.

And believe me, all those people talking about god or telling you that you have to be true and about what you shouln't do, the day they have the possibility to do what pleases them, they also do it.

And they don't care about you or about what they said or thought before.

There are a lot of rumors that seem to gain legitimacy. Yes there are groups of women who want nothing more than to fleece a foolish man. But on the other hand there are many who truly appreciate a foreigner. They understand we are different than Thai men. If you take the time to converse and listen, and really get to know someone; then you will find someone worth holding on to. And not all Thai women are flashy. There are many down to earth ones. And I may seem rude but I have to laugh at the religion excuse. There are so many bad people that hide behind the blanket of any religion that it isn't even worth getting into. Be honest, be yourself and spend time getting to know each other. Without any of those things the relationship is doomed on either side.

I experienced the fleecing. She has a daughter and used my helping her as a method to lie about the money. I ended it. I feel bad for the daughter. I realize that not all Thai women are like that. Next time I will have my eyes open.聽 Thanks for the comment 馃愤

I have found that too many think about short-term gain instead of the long term. It's also true in many Thai businesses that I've witnessed.

Where do you find these kind and truthful women聽 not in bars or massage parlors聽

You got it right. The odds are not with you in bars or massage parlors. However, you can't write off all of them in those professions. The money is very good in Pattaya and better than anyplace where they could work at home. There are some diamonds there.

I met my wife online 15 years ago. It was a process though. I had dated 4 or 5 and moved on before I met her. None were in the professions you mentioned, but 2 were government workers.
